Hi,

I finally got my interview date (01-25-11). Our travel is to be in February, and I was wondering how long it takes for them to make up passports for people who filed under 319(b). Anyone have any experience in this?

Thanks,

manoynmonic

Well, I got my interview 11/23. Same day oath. Got my passport the day after, the 24th, at 12 o'clock. Just make sure you make an appointment with one of the passport offices and get the stuff ready you need, like a filled out form, two pics, your certificate and prove of travel . You find the details here.

Thanks for the reply. I was worried it would take the standard 6 weeks to get the passport. But you called the office and made an appointment for and expedited passport? E.g., method #2 on this page: http://studenttravel.about.com/od/uspassports/f/passport_rush.htm

Thanks again,

mn

Yes, but I already got it 4 hours later. I had an 8am appointment. Went out to hang around and have a coffee, came back at noon and my passport was ready.

manoynmonic ,

your problem is not the passport, your problem is the Oath Ceremony. Unless the have a same-day oath at the local USCIS office that adjudicates your N-400 interview (which is rather uncommon), it may take anywhere from 3 weeks to 2 months afterward until you'll become a US citizen.

If you can't do a same-day oath, you may have to travel as a resident with your Green Card, which is not a problem.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

I was concerned about that. We're in Seattle, and looking over several pages of posts, it looks like Seattle generally does same day oaths. I'll have the wife ask to make sure when they interview her.

hi! i did 319b too, try going to the passport agencies who do the expedited ones, u can get them in hours depending when you leave but i applied mine on a friday, late morning, was told to pick it up monday but i had it mailed and got it on a tuesday. so excluding the weekends, it would;ve been earlier :)

and oh, they do expedited if you show your itinerary for your travel arrangement which should be in 2 weeks, i did mine in washington DC and they asked to see my travel itinerary or tickets :)
