I put he will be my husband. I intend to fully support my husband until the rest of my life. As non-official as it sounds, that's the truth. So that's waht I put. I'm sure they've seen crazier.

I checked that I do intend and then I wrote that it is a K1 and I will support him until our marriage, upon marriage, all future income and expenses will be shared.

For this question, it would probably bee good to search for your embassy and the question, not just the question. When I was researching in March, I found several threads where some embassies wouldn't accept the form if it was checked yes, some wouldn't accept if it was checked no and some didn't care either way.

To be on the safe side, you could also fill out three forms, one that says yes and one that says no and one that says N/A so that if the CO complains, your fiance can whip out another one say boo-yah

Good Morning everyone,

I am double checking everything, like I always do! I think if I could have opened our sealed petition, and sealed packet 3 to check one more time I would have! I tell you, this process makes temporary crazy people out of us

My question of the day is for Question 11 on the I-134 form did you all follow the example forms and leave the boxes blank (I intend, do not intend) and in the line below type in N/A K1 visa process for permanent residence.I noted on other threads people checked intend and below wrote comments such as 'fully support so the beneficiary will not become a public charge'.

I bought a sturdy accordian type file and have everything neatly labeled and placed so documents are at my fingertips if the consulate officer asks. This will also come in handy for AOS.

Have a nice day,

Lise

Well, I decided to put what I thought they wanted to hear which is I answered: yes, and said that I would provide room & board, clothing, transportation and a cash amount weekly for misc. & entertainment. This is of course all true. My hope is that my fiancee will not have to answer 20 million financial and "how will you be supported?" questions. She will be my wife, of course I will support her. I will do some more research before AOS that is a little more binding and specific I think?

we didn't know either so we prepared and signed one form of each which sounded similar to Dizzy's; that reilly would contribute financially on my behalf until such a time as i am granted work authorisation and upon AOS all living expenses bills rent etc will be shared between us as a married couple, or something to that effect, and i put in the rent cost of the place we're starting out in. the non intend was worded slightly differently. couldn't find a conclusive answer for it.

I am also interested in peoples opinions on this question.

I put (based on what the question said): I Intend to provide room and board and full support for him until he is able to legally work in the USA, when then our finances will be joint.

I didn't know what to put there and was just being honest. My fiance, once employed, will make at least twice more than I do, so I thought the answer was ok.

Looking back, I probably should have not said "until". Too late now. :(

When filling out the forms, there are questions asking where I intend to live when I get here - the thing is, my fiance is moving this summer before I get there but we don't know where to yet! On the last set of forms I just wrote 'unknown - petitioner moving' but I don't want it to sound like he's just floating in the breeze out here.

I'm getting really excited!

I hope you're all enjoying the time you're spending right now in your current countries - Blake said to me the other day 'you really have to treasure the time you're spending in Canada this summer' and he's totally right. This is the last stretch of time that I'll live at home with my parents, close to my family, with my best friends close by.. I think this last stretch is going to be our easiest apart, both because I know its the last one and because I'm going to be busy having an amazing summer.

I have a question that most likely belongs in our AOS forum...

But does anyone know how how our foreign fiances/fiancees will get credit? My fiance has awesome credit in South Africa and the United Kingdom....but does that transfer? Will he have to begin again?

From what I've read, the only credit history that would transfer is if he'd held an AmEx card for more than a year. There's also something about adding him as a second card holder and inheriting your credit history, but I'm not sure on the details.

Everything else, you're back to starting from scratch again, unfortunately - I'm in the same boat.

Also a credit score on it's own isn't everything - they like a history too !

Any credit card that is not country-specific (like Citi or Amex) should be able to transfer all of your records to the US credit system once you have a SSN.

If you have a credit card that has excellent payment history and has been open for a number of years, you can add your spouse as a cardholder. Your spouse will get credit for ALL of your years of history. Be very careful which card(s) you choose to do that with and if you can, check all three credit burrows to make sure that you're picking clean cards. Make sure that when you add your spouse, it's not just as an authorized user but as an actual cardholder so that he/she gets the history.

There is some good information in this thread about establishing credit(it's split off from a bigger thread):

How does this sound for my co-sponsor:

Question 11 I-134:

I intend: To support Derek financially and in any other way possible until both him and his fiancee can support themselves independently and won't become a public charge.

And my finacee (sponsor):

I intend: To do everything I can to support Derek financially until he can legally work and the responsibility can be shared.

I wrote same as Bec: " I checked that I do intend and then I wrote that it is a K1 and I will support him until our marriage, upon marriage, all future income and expenses will be shared."

However, now I wonder if I said, "will support him till our marriage..." ??? BEC??? Do you recall what we talked about that day??? Anyhow, I checked, "I intend on " for sure. I know I said "This is a K1 Petition and we will marry and share all future income and expenses." <something like that>

This is why I scan everything and this time I just made copies but since we had to submit 2 of all financial documents, I had to insert my copy and just kept my drafted notes! Ach!!!

Hope all is well with everyone.

Case Left NVC!! (finally)

After being told last Tuesday by an NVC operator that my case was under "additional processing", I called DOS this morning at 7:30am EST. After 6 minutes of waiting, I got the good news that my case is on its way to the consulate!! :)

The DOS visa specialist could only tell me that my case was sent recently. So I called NVC, and was told my case was sent out from NVC last Friday.

Once again, thanks to everyone who replied and told me that you received a letter from NVC after your cases arrived at our respective embassies and consulates. I'm enjoying the benefits from all of you who are ahead of me in this waiting game :)
