3-ring Binders ok for Lagos?

Hi guys!

I'm hearing a lot of talk on VJ lately about how one shouldn't bring any binders with them (containing all the supporting documentation) to the Embassy interview because Security won't allow it through because of the metal rings. Is this true? Can't you just open the binder and show them and say you need it for your interview? I already have my 4" binder so well organized and don't know how I would organize as well using any other kind of medium.

Does anyone have any experience bringing in a 3-ring binder into their interview?

Just want to hear from people's experiences.

My husband brought one into London, but Lagos might be a different story.

Lagos has metal detectors. I think you may have to ditch your binder. Accordion files work nicely . The multisection ones. You can use one for phone records , one for tax data and so on. In those you can bind up little subsections in report holders. You also may have to pass the data through a window slot ( think movie theater ticket booth) So the 3 ring may not be the best solution.

Ur three ring binder is ok I had a 4inch binder with everything in it and they let my fiancee in with it with no problem u can always take the paper out of the binder and pass through the window opening....so u should be ok with the binder........Good luck

Hubby did not tell me about ring binders. We used the flat plastic ones the can hold different sections or years and bulky items. Sorry.

Just as a footnote, my husband was able to enter the Consulate for his interview with the 4" binder with the 3 metal rings. It was never an issue

Thanks for bringing up this subject. My fiance is bring a binder when he has his interview. The embassy's can be cautious yet picky.
