Well, I have been trying to contact the consulate regarding my wifes interview. Basically I am trying to get her interview expedited so that it will be during the time frame in which I will be there, however after 10 e-mails I have yet to receive a response. Quite frustrating to say the least, and the phone is completely out of the question, they simply forward you to a number that then makes you listen to a recording about sending your request to the email that never responds to your email. Anybody know of any backdoor tricks of the trade to get a live person or do you think sending a fax might be more effective. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Has she received the packet 3 yet? Your timeline doesn't indicate that the file has been received yet. Asking for an expedite to fit your travel plans may not get much action. That's not a compelling reason from the consulate's perspective.

Best of luck.

I'm guessing (not approving) that a chuckle is heard as your email is ignored. With rare exceptions, Consulates couldn't care less about anybody's travel plans.

If you have good reason you can contact your US Senator

and request and EMERGENCY requesty for US Embassy

assistance for your case. You will need a letter

from your CO and it needs to be completed with a release form

submitted along with your letter for the Senator and

request for and expedite. It needs to be sent to the consulaor

at the US Embassy as soon as possible also.

They will try to accomodate your need as long as your paperwork

and case is ready for process. Also you need to adivse the

US Embassy that your contacting your US Senator and having them act

on your behalf to hurry the time you need.

In most cases the US government handle these kinds of case for

Military service men, unless not enought time has been given

to process such request.

It will take you time to google your senator, print a copy of the

Senator release form and you to get the letter from your CO and get

it to your senator in time by fax.

Time is of the essence and so you need to move at once solider and

get this done. You maybe also call your Senator office direct and

speak to a case worker for the Senator and they also direct you to

assist you in this matter.

Also sending a fax directly to the US Embassy might help but i always

dealt directly with the US Embassy in Kiev, Ukraine and hadnt had no

problems with them responding a day or 2 later.

Last if your packets are done and sent back or they have them good

if not than how can they process your case ?

Good Luck.

Hey thanks for that info, and I did just as you said, and the NVC is going to forward that request on to the consulate in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. I appreciate your constructivenss. So many people on this website are part of the problem and not the solution, I think many of them want to lord over those who are still struggling in our journey when they have completed theirs already. What goes around comes around. But you sir are breath of fresh air thanks for your info, and your guidance. God Bless, and good luck to you as well in your journey.

Just saw your post. The Ethiopian Consulate never respond to any e-mai I ever sent. Calling is the best way to reach them. Its been a while since I called the consulate (about 4 years), so perhaps their phone options have changed. Listen to the recordings to make sure you call at the correct times. I think they kept weird hours for immigrant visas like 8am -12pm 3 days of the week (although the embassy is open all day 5 days a week, there was a restricted schedule for visas). If that doesn't work call the line for US citizens and ask to be transferred to visa processing to inquire about your wife's petition. Whenever I spoke with someone they were always very helpful.
