That's the question. Do K1ers need the the Guidance and Counseling Certificate (GCC) and the CFO sticker prior to leaving the country. Remember this is K1 Visa holders I am asking about.

We were married 04/02/2011
I received my conditional 2-year greencard (AOS) in 2.5 months with no interview (April-June 2011)

Our son was born 02/03/2013

I received my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology 04/17/2013

I received my 10-year greencard (ROC) in 3 months with no interview (March-June 2013)

My husband returned from deployment 06/20/2013

My naturalization journey took 4 months (April-August 2014)

Thank you. I have the link for the CFO, do you know where on their site or where on any other site, like the USEM Manila, that it specifically mentions this?

No, but I think that's because its not a requirement of the US Embassy, its a requirement of the Philippine Govt before leaving the country.. we can't leave the country without a stamp proving we've taken it

I definitely agree with that...it's not a requirement from the US Embassy but it's required by the DFA..no one can leave the country without that(except for tourist travels maybe)..btw, just want to share..when I got my CFO sticker..there was one lady there who had just finished her seminar and waited for her CFO sticker..her flight was the day before. She said they didn't allow her to check -in becoz she didn't have any CFO sticker and have not attended the Guidance & counseling Seminar..she & her American fiance didn't know about it..good for them at least they were able to rebook her flight..

hmmm..they said, St. Mary's is partly stricter than PRISM..I took my seminar at PRISM and it was easy and fast(even closer to the embassy)...you can just walk in..they have schedules where you can attend..you can get infos through the CFO website..God bless...

Read the first paragraph. Notice the word "emigrants".

An immigrant is someone who leaves their country and comes to your country to live.

An emigrant is someone who leaves there own country to live in another country.

I assume your fiance intends to leave her country (Philippines) and live in your country (United States). This is the way the Philippine government looks at it also, even if technically the K1 is a non-immigrant visa.

Spot on George, it was the non-immigrant status part that threw me. And the fact that you don't hear people mention it very much.

 I was kind of surprised when I first heard about it. I'd been lurking in the forums for a couple of months already and it hit me out of the blue. I keep expecting some other requirement that I'm completely unaware of to pop up. :bonk::rofl:

You may want to consider getting it done through St. Mary's (SMEF-COW). Their office in in Katipunan, Quezon City, and they are WAY better to deal with than CFO head office.

When you fiancee passes her interview and has her visa, she can go to St. Mary's, complete the guidance and counseling requirement, AND get her CFO sticker all in the same day (the CFO has a satellite office behind the St. Mary's building...they are in the same compound).

Here's the website, no appointment needed...she just needs to register at the front office. Just have her bring every conceivable document she may need and some 2x2 pictures: http://www.smef-cow-phil.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=62:guidance-and-counseling&catid=36:side&Itemid=68

That's awesome thank you for that.
