Wow, 18 years old, what can a kid do? Can vote, join the military, get married without parents permission, apply for a passport, tried in an adult court, but many exceptions to that rule now, can drop out of high school, most seniors are over 18, and your medical records are kept private from your parents. Still can't drink nor get a loan, but can with your parents as cosigners.

USCIS considers an 18 year old as an adult and wants an extra 680 bucks for each kid, where is an 18 year in high school or college going to get that kind of money? Under 18 are considered a US citizen automatically, but without proof, kid still have a foreign birth certificate. Department of State recognizes this and will with birth certificates from both the kid and naturalized citizen and their Naturalization certificate. But if the kid is truly going to be independent, needs that certificate for themselves. If I was in that position, would do that, no telling what the future will bring.

Would be similar to getting that stupid one year extension for removal of conditions, only people that know that is the USCIS and a guy at the POE when we returned with that stupid piece of extra paper to carry with us. No other government agency knew anything about it, what in the hell is a one year extension notice? They do understand a valid unexpired green card. SS doesn't even understand that extension notice. They have no problems in pulling those FICA taxes from your income, but trying to get benefits is a far different story, even though they have records showing you paid in for a zillion years.

Certificate of naturalization itself is BS, if they say you are really a citizen of the USA just like you were born here, would issue you a new birth certificate stating so and forget about that certificate.
