It's simple...give them what they want.

+1. Go to NSO and get a CENOMAR and get an NBI clearance in you previous surname.

Why are you having an interview at the embassy (I assume in Manila) for an Adjustment of Status? You may want to correct your timeline and your profile settings.:)

getting the cenomar is easy. go to the NSO, fill out a request form and pay the fee, get to copies (just so you'll have 2 "originals"

as for the NBI, you showed them your current last name (mother's name) which you said you've been using since you were a kid, right? which means when you applied for your NBI the first time (maybe around 18yrs old), it was always your mother's name that you used? this means you never wrote down on your NBI application your father's last name, right? if so, you won't get any different NBIs. what you need to bring is if possible, the court finality docs showing that your father's name was removed because of the reason you cited.

i'm guessing that they're asking for more proof of your identity because you showed your Birth certificate with your father's name on it? does it have a notation on it, saying that is had been changed? if it was heard in court, it should and all you need to do is explain what happened and get a copy of the court hearing result to back this up.

if your BC doesn't show any notation of name change/correction, you might have a longer process to undertake with NSO, and possibly a court hearing again, to prove that the person on your BC and on your NBI are one and the same.

examine your docs so you can figure out what to do.
