Got the email/text notification that our May I-130 petition was moved to the next step on October 13th...

I waited two weeks then called NVC to see about our case..

Checked the I-130 line 22 and it clearly states we will apply for visa in Sydney, Austrailia

Called NVC a number of times... no joy..

Within the last week I have received SIX I-797s (one each for wife, one each for stepson) Each pair of 797s was generated on a different date..

All say the same thing

Notice Type: Transfer Notice

Our case apparently has been transferred to a local office? Holtsville, NY..

WHY?

My wife is not in the US now...

Can the bureaucracy..possibly make a bigger clusterfluck of thing?

Or do petitions with consular interviews go to local offices first?

Transfer to local office before the actual approval:

USCIS wants to interview the petitioner. Nothing to be panic!

I have seen some cases like this.

It'll be a casual chat to verify the marriage relationship, any other prior records (including prior divorce, criminal records etc.) that was not clear to them in the application etc.

Bring your entire file when you appear to the local office.

I know it is pain, but we are helpless!

05/11/2012 - DS-230 IV package received by NVC

05/17/2012 - Case Completed

Sometimes, local office might take the biometrics (fingerprints) of the petitioner too.
