Hi everyone

I am wondering how long it takes the customs stuff, I will get through Miami and I have heard is way too busy, which makes me worry cus I have 3 hours of connection to Reagan. someone who has been through this can help me. Also, is there a special line I need to be? and once I get to Reagan, do I have to do the same, or I just leave the airport to see my husband??

Thanks in advanced! :)

It's difficult to say if 3 hours is enough. Much of it will depend on how many people are ahead of you and coming through at that time and how many officers are on duty. Three hours is a good time to allow but no guarantees. The best thing is that flights to and from DC are numerous so if you do miss your connection, depending on day and time you will most likely be able to catch a flight within an hour or two. Once you finish your POE processing at Miami you are in the US and will not have to go through the procedure again. When you enter Miami you will have two choices of lines to enter...one if for US Citizens and Residents, the others are for visitors/non-residents. You will enter the visitors/non-residents line and USCBP officers will direct you as needed from that point. Good luck

May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life's passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!

try to come in the middle of the week, when you get to a line none residents if it is long some times some one is there to guide to another line, the officer checks your papers as you a few questions ,if all is ok then you go for your luggage collect it go to costoms, as you exit customs IF YOUR LUGGAGE HAS FINAL DESANATION REAGAN,lags there is a guy that puts connecting flight luggage on the convayer, and you go to your connecting flight gate keep a eye on your time good luck safe trip,

It's hard to say how long it will take but I hear Miami is a busy POE. My POE was Houston and thank God it wasn't crowded; our layover was 2 hours and it was enough, however like I said it all depends on how busy the airport is. You can go in the USC/LPR line, from there they will send you to a different room where they will take the IV packet, and you will sign a form and take your fingerprints, then they give you your passport back with the CR-1 or IR-1 stamp, and you're ready to go. That's all you have to do!

Good luck!

Yes, they say either line you take will be ok, but when I got to Houston the visitors line was LONG, so I took the USC/Residents line which was short and waited for like 10 min tops. Remember you're a new resident, so you're allowed to go in that line. Good luck!
