I recently sent in all forms for the visa (k1).. exact date was 11/20/2010... My delivery confirmation says it has been recieved but othe then that i havent got a text or email back saying that they have progressed on it..not even cashed my check so im a little worried!.. it is now 11.29.10...

What could be the delay?

OK..just decided to check my bank statement and it seems like they cashed my check on 11/26.2010 (black friday).. i sure hope no one is having a field day with my money cause i havent got any word back , not even a text / or if its been touched!..

this worries me even more since id rather hae them not touch my check first!

Calm down. Pulling the check from the package and cashing it is one of the first things they do. The check being cashed is a definite indicator that they've received your package and haven't rejected it.

Did you submit a form 1145 with your petition and if so, have you received the electronic notification of receipt via email or SMS?

You should receive your NOA1 in 2 or 3 weeks. After that hold on for a long wait, typically 2 - 5 months for an I-129F approval. After that, enjoy sending in more checks and waiting some more :crying::bonk:. Oh, and don't forget about paying for the medical.

Maybe they decided to do yours for free  I wouldn't worry about it. Give them about 2 weeks to cash your check. Hopefully not, but even if they will eventually deny your petition ....they'll definitely cash your check first! My check was cashed two weeks after and I received my NOA1 after 3 weeks. Just relax for now cos you have some waiting to do.

The medical is for the beneficiary in the foreign country. They typically cost between $150 and $300. You can check the website for you consulate to find out for sure. Here is the link to the Panama consulate information available here on VJ, I'm not sure how up to date it is, so be sure to double check. http://www.visajourn...nama&cty=Panama
