Medical Appointment (London Embassy)

We are waiting for our petition to arrive at the embassy. It was mailed last week so it should be any day. I have a few questions.

Should my fiance book his medical now, or do we have to wait for packets?

He has an appointment with his GP to get his vaccine records and update them (if need be). He can do this before his medical appointment, right? Does he bring his records to Knightsbridge or will they look it up?

After his medical, they send his results directly to the embassy, correct? He doesn't need to have it completed before they schedule our interview, he just needs it completed before the interview date right?

Thanks for your help.

As soon as you have your London Embassy case number, LDN# you should have no problems booking your medical at Knightsbridge. If you don't have it, call DOS, they will.

I have read in a recent post where they asked the UKC to bring along their police certificate to the medical, why i don't know because it wasn't usually needed till the interview stage, but you probably have that in hand already.

The results are sent to the embassy, but he should not walk out of there without asking for a copy of the DS-3025. you will need it at AOS stage. And be sure to keep a receipt of payment as proof.

Thanks, we've had our LDN case number since last week. I just wanted to make sure he could go ahead and book his appointment.

He's going to see his GP to update any vaccines. If he needs any, does he need to bring a record of this with him to Knightsbridge?

He should bring his vaccine record with him to the medical. If he needs any then he should try to get the GP to give them to him. (Cheaper.) K1 visa applicants are not required to complete the vaccination requirement until they do AOS but it is generally much simpler and cheaper to get them all completed in the UK.

Wow, my fiance called to schedule it and they're getting him in this Thursday! That was crazy fast! I thought it took a while, which is why we called so early. Our case should be at the embassy any day now, do you think it's going to be a problem if his medical happens before they receive our case?

Nope. It makes no difference. And the medical appointments can be gotten much faster than the interview. Even when they are super busy, they can usually get someone an appointment in about 2 weeks.

Out of curiosity, did they tell your fiance to bring his police report? They have mentioned that to others, and I wasn't sure if it was standard procedure now.

My fiance received the below email, which does include the police certificate.

Please ensure you bring the following:

Passport or driving licence

1 x passport picture

Medical Questionnaire filled out

Any vaccination records you have

If you have had or have any ongoing medical conditions, disabilities or take any medication please bring further information

Copy of police certificate

Is there some sort of medical exam expiration date regarding the AOS stage? Someone mentioned to me they might have read that somewhere. We aren't planning on getting married until April (pending any visa problems), so these results will be 4-5 months old by then.

The medical is good for one year. You should be fine, depending on how long the AOS takes.

Wait I just read this on the VJ embassy section:

The visa interview will not be scheduled until the Embassy has received the results of the medical examination, so get the medical acheduled early, but after you have returned the forms and checklist so your files will match up.

This worries me. Do you think we should reschedule until we have sent in our packet 3 forms?

OH MY GOD. We're getting married on the same day! That's so crazy.

That IS kinda crazy! I've had lots of things like that happen recently. I work in a pretty big office building, and there are three of us with the same first name, and we all sit within 30 feet of each other. I found out the other day that one of the women is married to a guy with the same first name as my fiance. Also, my fiance has a sister who has the same name as I do as well. Weird coincidences...

As for rescheduling the medical, you might want to. It would be horrible if they lost your medical files because you were TOO keen and they got there too early. Just to be safe, you may want to push the medical back a few weeks so that you know that not only has the embassy received your file, but they have also gotten you into the system. That way, even if the medical records show up before your P3 paperwork does, you will know they will put them in to your file. Even though you technically have a case on its way to the Embassy, until they recieve your file and log it into the system, you don't exist to them. Logging your file into the system can take up to three weeks.

Hmm. They told him it's 90 pounds to reschedule! That's crazy. I'm wondering if we should just risk it and have it this week. When I call and inquire about our case over the next month, can they tell me over the phone if his medical results have been received so I'll know if something went wrong? I don't want our interview to be held up, that's my biggest concern.
