Hi guys and ladies. i got 2 questions.

1- when you go to have ur fingerprints done for N-400 , they will capture your picture, signature and fingerprints. my question is, That picture and signature will go to ur Certificate of citizenship? or the 2 Passport style pictures that u send with ur application will go to ur certificate of citizenship? i am asking this because they start making new Digital Certificates.

2- I know the citizenship different than the Green Card, well i read somewhere that u will not recieve ur Interview letter for ur N-400 until ur name get Cleard from the name check, So that mean if u receive ur Interview letter for N-400 that means ur name already cleard?

thanks alot.

I copy and pasted this from another thread I was replying too:

And the passport photo thing. You really only need two.

You still need to send two in, but they do not use the ones you send in anymore.

As of 25th October, when you have fingerprints done, they also take your pic, and capture your signature. The pic and signature are digitally impregnated to the certificate. That is what they will use. When you get your biometrics appt letter, it will have a code in the top right of the letter, if you have code 3, that means you will have fingerprints, picture and signature capture.

Also, it is normal to receive an RFE during this process, but most of us have worked out that this is sent about a week before you get an appt. letter for fingerprints. 95% of the time, the RFE is exactly for that, fingerprints! If they require anything else from you, you will get a yellow letter asking you to provide set items, most likely on interview day.

So, for any nay sayes out there, who will question this,..I suggest you go check out news items on USCIS website.

Anyone who got biometrics done prior to Oct 25th will have old style certificate and will use photos sent in, andone after that date, will get new style...

I checked this out and while I'm still not sure if even pending applicants will get the new style Certificate or not, I still suggest to get 6 passport photos at once.

1) You will have to submit 2 with your N-400. Those were never the photos they used for the Certificate. Those are simply the photos they use for your file

2) Despite the digital photo being the default photo for your certificate, as it has been for a long time, the applicant is allowed to submit a "nicer" photo for the Certificate at the interview. If the photos looks like a current photo of you, it will be used instead.

3) There are still 2 photos needed for the passport shortly after.

Therefore, it really makes sense as it saves time and money to get 6 of the same photo done at once, to cover all of the bases. Last time at AAA I opted for getting only 2 in order to save money, and now I have to go there again, all dressed up.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

I'm doing my interview, and hopefully my oath ceremony, tomorrow. I'll let you know what happens. I have an extra set of photos with me just in case. When the digital ones are ok and they want to use them, that's fine. When not ok, then I'll ask them to change them for the ones I have with me. I'll have to go back to AAA then to get me other pics for my passport. For my passport I have an appointment with the passport agency the morning after me becoming a citizen. I hate to send the Certificate of Citizenship by mail, so I decided to do it expedited and directly in person at the passport center. So Bob has a point. Make 6 at once. This way you don't have to drive three times to AAA. One day you'll need them anyway.

Ummm,....BOB,..you get to see the photo and they take it again if you don't like it. the lady asked me if my pic was ok, if not she would take another one. I was TOLD that any BIometrics taken after the 25th October will be NEW style certificate,..even says that on the press release, the lady that took my Biometrics told me that when I asked why my pic was being taken...... The pic,...is Not attached,...but printed onto the certificate....thus the use of the "impregnated" on my previous post,...you are not able to submit a nicer pic anymore.

Like i said, if you had the biometrics done prior to 25th Oct that is still the case,..like with your case,..but any after can not do that...

But, you may have a point for the passport pics,...

Thanks, Jodee,

guess it's anybody's guess how the transition period will pen out. I had my biometrics appointment early in October and am geared up for my interview now, so I'll see whether or not I'll get the old or the new Certificate, not that it will matter to me personally anyway. Still wish I had asked for more "passport" photos the last time as it's difficult for me to look pretty . . . handsome . . . and what else. Oh, well, how often do I have to look at my passport photo anyway . . .

Hi, and thanks all of u, please CVB keep us updated.

now i had my Bio. alrady taken. so i will be getting the new certificate or the old one?? the reason i am asking, because when the lady took my picture, i looked at it on the screen and really dont like it because she asked me to unzip my shirt, which i did and i dont think i liked it also because the picture was dark too, i felt i am not confortable with it,

The need to upgrade that cameras to better ones lol.

Once again Thanks Jodee CVB and Bob.

Interesting, didn't know that, what, no more double sided sticky tape to hang your photo on? And your certificate will actually be presigned rather than signing it at home? Have to tell my stepdaughter to dress up if and when she ever gets her biometric appointment, bad time to file during deer hunting and Christmas holiday time. Well, at least from the neck up.

Maybe next year they will plastic impregnate the certificate like they have been doing with the green cards.

I left my pics in the little folder, they were in, when I got them from AAA. I stapled that to an empty page and gave it a number. The same number that was mentioned in the attached index I added with my file.

I would love to see those plastic impregnate too. With the money they're charging, this shouldn't be this big of a problem.
