Fiance's Birth Certificate Required for I-129F?

Hey everybody,

I am almost finished putting together everything I need for my I-129F packet and I have a question. This website does not mention anything about supplying a copy of the foreign fiance's birth certificate with the I-129F form, but my fiance says she read somewhere that I need to send it in. I have a copy of it and a translation of the copy. Should I include it in the packet of forms?

The beneficiaries birth certificate is not required for the I-129F. It is only required at interview stage for the K-1 application. The USC birth certificate is required only to proove US Citizenship. A read of the I-129F instructions will also show this.

I read too many circumstances where the fiance's name and/or identity was called into question and an RFE issued, so I included it. For example, proving the name on a divorce decree actually is the fiance. I do not see how it can hurt.

Yea, I know that it doesn't say you need to include it on this board, or on the actual instructions, but I have read elsewhere that it is a good idea. And seeing as how you do have the birth certificate and therefore its not a hard thing to do, I would say include it!

I have read the argument that giving them things they didn't ask for makes your petition take longer to get approved, but I don't know how accurate that is. I included lots of things that the instructions don't ask for but that I had read in one place or another were a good thing to include. My petition was approved very quickly and I know of others who did the same and got the same results. I know others have included only what they asked for and gotten good results, but I figure if the extra evidence/materials is easy enough to include, why leave anything to be questioned?

The fiancee's birth certificate is not necessary at I-129F submittal.

i think it is neccessry for submitting when applying, because our lawyer asked it before applying, in the way post took some time to reach(2 weeks), so lawyer waited for it

Thanks for everybody's opinions! I think I will include it in the packet because it sounds like it can't hurt. One of my favorite sayings is "It's better to have and not need than to need and not have." Can anybody name the movie that quote is from?

If they ask for it, it is because there has been a name change along the way; thru marriage, etc., and they want to see the names used thoughout her lifetime and the legal basis for name changes.

The beneficiary’s birth certificate is not necessary for the I-129F part of the process but if you want to send it in by all means do so.
