Hi All!

I am getting ready to start K1 process and in my search of requirements found the affidavit of support. I currrently make well over 125% of poverty level, but I am confused if this needs to be true for the last 3 years or just present employment? I have been at my current job only 6 months. Also is this based on gross income or adjusted gross income?

Does the K3 visa have the same financial requirement?

Thanks in advance!

It is just important for present employment and you need only the tax return for the last year for the K1. My fiance did not had a job 2 years ago and we had no problems at all.

Good luck.

Hi ,

first of all,Good Luck on your VJ!

To your question,

nope it doesn't matter.Current Income matters to them. And that you only had your job for 6 months doesn't matter either. You will need the I 134 at Embassy Stage ,after you get your NoA 2.

And as far as I know gross Income. But I'm sure someone will correct me in case I'm wrong on this one.

As I said,Good Luck!

From the Manila embassy website:

http://usembassy.state.gov/posts/rp1/wwwh3217.html

Form I-134 Affidavit of Support.

The I-134 Affidavit of Support is required for returning residents (SB-1), fiancé(e)s or spouses of U.S. citizens (K1, K3), children of K1 and K3 applicants, spouses and children of LPRs, applicants with special immigrant status, and follow-to-join derivative family members of employment-based (E) applicants. A copy of the sponsor's most recent Federal income tax return (Form 1040) should accompany the I-134. Fax copies of the ITR are acceptable.
