New Address for Wife

In the last week both our I-130 and I129f were approved and are being sent to the NVC. I guess I did not read ahead far enough when I origonally filled out the forms and gave my wife's physical address. As I understand both the first communications will be sent to her.

Unfortunately physical addresses mean nothing in Kampala. I don't think even a courier service will go anywhere other than a business. Few streets have names and her address is something like Plot 17xx, Kigowa I, Ntienda, Kampala. Directions go something like, "head past the market in Ntienda, go down the hill, past the two pork joints and make a left at the huge jackfruit tree. Ours is the third green gate on the left with one light out."

Anyway, can I change the address to a PO Box in Kampala, or will the communications come to me, will they call her to pick up the forms, or should I head it all off and make my own DS-3032 so all further communications are sure to come to me?

At the website for the US Embassy in Kampala, http://uganda.usembassy.gov/, I noticed that they listed their contact information as both the "plot" and the PO Box. Perhaps your fiancee should do the same.

Their "normal" contact information is:

US Embassy

Plot 1577 Ggaba Road,

P.O. Box 7007,

Kampala Uganda

Tel: 041 25 97 91 /2/3/5

Fax: 041 259 794

You might want to seach their web site to see if this is where you are to submit an address update for visas. Remember to include the new case number that was assigned by the NVC.
