When is the best time to call NVC?

I am most certainly premature to be checking already, but what the heck.

Anyway, I keep getting the "operators are busy" recording, a couple of times then, "Thanks for calling" click.

Huh? That sounds like USCIS phone etiquette.

Anyway, are they really that backlogged now? What is the best time to call? Thanks.

I always had better luck calling them at around 10:30, 11pm, eastern time. During the day, it's almost impossible to talk to a live operator.

I only offer advice - not even legal. Just the plain and simple kind.

I called around 11am PST and got through right away. You will find them much more helpful and friendly than anything we have experienced with the petition process. Thank goodness for small miracles!

I was never able to get through on Mondays. I was able to get though during the day but I had to hit the redial button a couple of times. It is easier to get through after business hours. When you do get through the operators are super nice unlike USCIS but there will be a bit of misinformation. The norm is 2-4 weeks for them to recieve your case. It took mine almost the full 2 weeks others got in faster. Dont use the automated system it dosent work for the K-1.

Neya,

No way! Up to 4 weeks? You have got to be kidding me! Is that really what they are saying or is that supposition? Or even "party line"?

I am really getting tired of waiting for this process. I was noting that NVC was pushing these cases out inside of a week. Are they now that heavily backlogged that 2-4 weeks in the norm? I was afraid that this would happen.

Thanks for the "call time" information everyone!

No that's what they tell you 2-4 weeks. My delay was USCIS(of course) sat on my petition after approving it on the 31st it did'nt arrive until the 10th and left for the embassy on the 15th. I'm just saying thats the party line they give you in a very nice way. But keep calling back they were helpful everytime.

Well that is reassuring. Thanks for that.

I am now wondering if everyone was "touched" after approval with USCIS, inferring that they were processing your petition for transfer to NVC?

I had my best luck 8-9pm Pacific time. i found that when i hear message you have 1 min till... , i usually got thru. otherwise, nada. i don't think a k-1 is entered into the system until it is assigned a case number. all i got was no record of it, allow 2 to 4 weeks...ya ad ya da ya da, until the day after the case number was assigned. the petition is probably at NVC within the week after approval, then sits around waiting case number assignment. after case number asigned, electronic file of your petition sent to embassy with physical one to follow.

Whenever I called I had to call back 4 or 5 times just to get through. Then they would ask me if I knew the date I was approved and if I had my NOA2 in front of me and I would always say no, sorry (even though I knew the exact date and time that I received the email) but it was a while ago because otherwise they get super cranky with you and tell you that it could take a lot longer and to wait a few weeks... yeah right!
