Ah, shucks! Thanks :star:

 no problem

some people get shy about telling others where to find good things but we shouldnt do that, info is a free gift we can give to others... information is power!!! :ot2:

if you gave your info (receipt #s, full name, etc) to anyone on VJ under the guise that they would "help" you through the immigration journey with his inside contacts (like his sister at USCIS) ... please contact OLUInquiries@dhs.gov, and go to http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact to report anything suspicious. Contact your congressman and senator's offices as well.

I dont know exactly how true it is as a whole, but for us when we have bought halal meat -usually goat, lamb or chicken, it seems to stay fresh alot longer than regular grocery store meat. Does anyone else find that to be so ?

it's much more fresh so will stay fresh more long in the home, still you want to use, or freeze, as quickly as possible for best taste and health. same with produce, the less distance between picking (or in meat - slaughter) to table the better for you.

Also most halal meat has the blood drained - no sitting blood - longer lasting/fresher meat. IMO

in most slaughterhouses in the united states, cattle and sheep die by exsanguination, same as zabiha and shechita. there shouldn't be any more blood in those animals than there are in kosher and zabiha animals. the only difference is that they're stunned first, which does not have any effect on blood drainage.

I was just sharing information that I was given from a reputable source. This particular sheikh lived in NYC for some time and had some experience with the mark-up of halal foods. Of course your mileage may vary, but for us, the price difference (and gas costs to get to a store that sells halal meat) is a considerable one, so we just shop at the grocery store.
