Beneficiary's Ability to speak English

To all of You Out there that have had the Consulate Fiancee's Interveiw. I have heard of instances where the Visa was denied due to Poor ability of speaking and understanding English.

I have heard of this in Guangzhou China in particular but some may have experienced this in any consulate.

Would Love to hear of any problems due to language.

I must say that My Parents came to the USA from Europe many years ago, Not speaking any English and did not have a problem with Immigration, But we all know things do change.

The only problem I have heard is not based on coming to the states without English. The problem is if you and your fiance cannot speak to each other it brings the validity of the relationship into question. I think if the American can speak your language there is not a problem.

They made Lucero speak some English for them at the consulate in Bogota. She struggled through enough to make them happy.

I can't see how it would have something to do with that. One could assume that the inability of the beneficiary would prevent them from finding a job, but even so the beneficiary and the petitioner could agree that the beneficiary won't work or maybe the beneficiary can't work for some reason and they'd be fine, provided that the petitioner has the means to support the beneficiary (thus the I-134 and most importantly the I-864). I guess the main issue here is the ability of communicating. If beneficiary/petitioner don't share a language both of them can speak, it'd be red flag regarding the legitimacy of the relationship.

my entire interview was in english, but I don't know how that works in other countries.

In Brazil they ask us whether we want to have the interview in English or in Portuguese.

I don't remember having found here on VJ any case where the beneficiary didn't speak any English at all though.
