Help, if possible.

Sept, 03, 2010 NVC completed paperwork... Nov,05,2010 still no interview date.

Talked to a operator on Sept 03, said it only takes about 2 weeks to set a interview date. 10 weeks and we are still waiting for my wife's interview date...capacity is all they will say. does anybody have any idea how long the normal wait time for a interview in Ho Chi minh city is ?????

We are in the final stage and the waiting is KILLING me...lol

Call the DoS# and ask them the status of the case.. the date may be set already and you are not hearing about it...

thanks for the reply ... I have called the NVC. I've emailed the US Embassy where my wife willed be interviewed. The last time I called the NVC was Nov,1 . We are set-up for email notification as well. I plan to call them again Nov 17.

The folks at DoS are friendlier than NVC IMO.. usually easier to get a little info from them than NVC...

She will not interview at the embassy.. That is in HaNoi and they dont do family immigration there.. only at the consulate in HCMC.

Thanks again for the reply . . .LMO . .your right about the people at the NVC being unfriendly. . . I dont have a # for the DOS. I thought everything had to go through the NVC. I've looked at the DOS website, and didnt see a number I can call. Would you know the number ?

Your right about her interviewing at the Consulate at HCMC.

My fiancée received the first letter Aug 23 from U.S consulate HCM, my lawyer sent out the 230"s Sept 17. I emailed the Consulate 3 weeks ago and they received my lawyers paperwork, so now we wait for the second letter. One of our fellow VJ's members will tutor her English until she receives her interview, she leaves for HCM next week. So I will continue to email the Consulate once a week till we get the the last letter. Good luck

I emailed the U.S consulate HCM last week. . Got a reply stating they didn't have our file, I only have a lawyer service through my employer, with unlimited advice. Everything has gone smooth and rather quickly until it got time to set the interview date. Also my wife has heard nothing from the US consulate HCM. . . Interesting how it seems each case is handled differently. . . Good luck to you as well . .

For sure there is no level playing field... when it comes to how they handle cases.. its like throwing dice... or like Mr Gump says.. "like a box of chocolates.. you never know what you'll get"

DoS# 202-663-1225 press 1 at the first message and then 0 after the next prompt... this will get you in the queue to a live person.

The consulate wont get the file until after the date has already been sent If I remember correctly... Getting info from the consulate via email is like leaving a bar and asking a stranger for a ride to your house.. the odds of getting what you want from them is slim to none... the usual response is a copy paste standard response..

After NVC is completed. Normally take 2 months or 8 weeks for them to setup your interview date. You should keep calling calling calling NVC everyday until you have an interview date. If I am remember correctly. You should call first or second week of the month, on Tuesday-Thursday.

Check out the NVC forum. You will have more information.

Called Dos today. they only confirmed what I already knew. we are in the hold Q. They did transfer me to NVC. The lady I spoke with said I should call back every day or every other day as well.. I guess i'll be burning up some minutes now .... lol .... Right now we are in week 10. not a happy camper at all

I've been looking at the timelines here, and asked if I could send in a timeline to add to our package. I was told I could but best not to. any time they pull your package you get bumped back in the waiting list. so I'll just send our timeline to my wife/ we have been waiting long enough as it is...lol..

thanks for the input everybody. and it is good to know I can call the DOS to get a update as well. the wait to speak to someone was 1/2 of what is normal for NVC.

Thanks again for the help :)
