my fiance is a LC in USMC,and i recently looked up the things needed as for packet 3 and 4,we are in a huge disagreement as to who should issue him the statement from the employer that indicates 1.date and nature of employment 2.salary paid 3. whether the position is temporary or permanent.

im saying he needs to inform his sergeant and ask him to get him one,he think the sergeant issuing the statement will be fine.

tell im right

I would have thought either his commanding officer (not his sergeant) or whichever paper pusher deals with his paychecks. But I'm no expert on the US military.

If i was still in the military i would just have my sgt right me one, or sit down with my first sgt and he would have him write one and he would sign it.

if you arent sure ask him to go talk to a military lawyer. only takes half a day and he gets to get outa some boring work to sit in a boring office.

but honestly his first sgt should do it that and copies of his w2s and recent pay pretty much prove that he is in military.

thank you max  we agreed its better for him to ask his sergeant and if its needed from someone higher in the chain of command HE should handle it.

With all due respect to his sergeant, NCO's don't receive training in matters of immigration. I think he should check and see if there's an immigration liaison office at his base. They would be able to advise him how to get any documents he'll need.
