I hear that varicella vaccine(chicken pox)needs a second shot after a month.

If they dont take the second shot then they cannot travel, is this true?

Chicken Pox is a two shot series. I'm not sure about not traveling if you don't get it, but you need the full vaccination for immigration purposes.

If they are not immunized then the physician will probably not sign off on the medical. It is true that a booster shot is needed but how quickly the booster can be given is best answered by a physician. 30 days is the commonly understood norm. Here is the quote regarding Varicella vaccination from the CDC website:

All children and adults without evidence of immunity to varicella need the vaccine. Evidence of immunity includes any of the following:

Documentation of two doses of varicella vaccine

Blood tests that show you are immune to varicella or laboratory confirmation of prior disease

Born in the United States before 1980, excluding health-care workers, pregnant women, and immunocompromised persons. These individuals need to meet one of the other criteria for evidence of immunity.

Receipt from a healthcare provider of a) a diagnosis of chickenpox or b) verification of a history of chickenpox

Receipt from a healthcare provider of a) a diagnosis of herpes zoster (shingles), or b) verification of a history of herpes zoster (shingles).

You do NOT need the chickenpox vaccine, if you meet any of the above criteria for evidence of immunity.

Most list of immunisation require has the following line: All applicants are required to receive at least one dose of each age-appropriate vaccine. So, I'm assuming just one dosage of chicken pox immunisation is enough. This is an assumption.

Guys thanks for the info. Yes the second dose need to be taken in a month as per instruction. The printed letter we received has a visible note about it in medical envelope and so any body can read it. My spouse came across another person who came for the second dose of Varicella since she was not allowed to travel with out that.

So a little worried.

What happens if my spouse fail to take the second shot of immunization after a month and comes to USA (after 45 days from the Medical). Can my spouse be denied to enter the plane/come to USA? I understand that we should follow the recommended dose of the vaccination but the thing is my spouse may be immune to it since when little my spouse either had Chicken Pox (Varicella) or Mumps but was not sure what it was.
