I believe they send out NOA after they have cashed your check. This notice will have a receipt number which you can register on USCIS website to get email and sms updates or check status. I am pretty sure, you will get your NOA pretty soon and it might be already in mail. Yes NOA is a letter (notice of acceptance). They received mine on the 19th but I still have not received anything. I sent a money order so I can't check if it has been cashed or not.

Thanks for the reply.:) I am getting stressed out about all this. I'm beginning to worry and I don't know what to expect next.

I replied a minute ago, but I quoted the wrong post and did not really notice the date you said they received it. They received ours on the 19th, issued the NOA that same day (some people have an NOA date 3 or 4 days after CSC receives their package), and then mailed it on the 23rd. Depending where you live, it can take anywhere from a day to a week for you to actually get it in the mail once they send it, so I would not worry too much. There is a 13-digit number under where they endorse your check --- it starts with a three-letter prefix and the rest is all numbers. You can go to the USCIS websit (www.uscis.gov), look on the left side of the screen for where it says "check case status" and use that number to check on your case. However, as I mentioned, a lot of cases are not showing up. If yours is one of them, no need to panic; you will probably have your NOA1 in hand in a few days!

Thanks for the reply. I was reading your previous reply but I thought it wasn't for me because, I didn't send out a money order. :) but yeah, I will wait for the NOA in the mail. We just received the return card today, actually. I live in San Jose,CA so I wouldn't think that it would take them too long to send it to me. Thank you for your replies. I'm a bit of a worry wart when it comes to these things. I stress out easily.:(

01.28.09- interview for AOS

02.05.09- AOS approval letter and welcome note! yey!

02.12.09- GC recieved! :D (wrong middle name spelling)

02.15.09- moving out of in-laws' house.

confused if i have to change address first or have GC corrections

Some ASC's take walk-in biometrics, some do not, but make sure you go there before or at your date, I would not suggest going AFTER your assigned biometrics date, sometimes if you do not show up, they MAY consider your case abandoned.

So really, if I go after the date, they could think I dropped my case?? :help:

My problem is that I am leaving on December 8th to San Francisco for work and from there, I am flying out of the country for the holidays until January. So I will not be in Alaska for about a month... I can have friends check my mail box to see if the appointment date shows up, but if they give me an appointment between now and January 6th, basically I won't make it. My closest USCIS center is 400 miles from here, so I cannot really plan to just walk-in there.

Does anyone know if I can walk-in another USCIS center than the one in the state I live in? I could go to San Francisco instead...

2/3/11: Biometrics at local office (NOA2 recieved on 2/2/11!!!)

I just looked at my old biometrics appt letter and here is what it says in Bold letters:

"...If you fail to appear as scheduled, your application will be considered abandoned"

So if you really think you can't keep your appointment, re-schedule it or like you said walk-in to a different ASC.

Well, if you have your letter you could give it a shot in SF but if I read your post correctly you haven't received your ASC app notice yet. ASC needs to stamp your ASC letter so don't think they'll accept it if you walk in without it

I doubt I will receive my appointment letter by Tuesday night unfortunately. So I will not have it, and according to what you said, I probably wouldn't be able to walk in without it... How can I reschedule if I have to come to that?

How can I reschedule if I have to come to that?

Once your get your fingerprint notice, you will see there will be a check-box that says "Please reschedule my appointment...." You need to check that box and send in the fingerprint notice to the address listed (Usually the address listed is for your ASC) in the instructions.
