Form listing belongings to present to border?

Is there a specific form to fill out listing the belongings I'm bringing across, or do I just make my own list? I saw a form 3299 somewhere, but it was for "unaccompanied goods." Mine are crossing with me.

Just wondering. It's one of those nagging little questions that is preventing me from falling asleep tonight. :P

So much info to process...so many lists of little things to do before medical, interview, POE...not enough brain capacity these days to accommodate it all. A brain can hold only so much it seems.

You just make up your own list if they are coming with you. I just made an itemized list of the things that were accompanying me and the moving company filled out the 3299 for the things not accompanying me. There really isn't any format, but you could use the one presented on the 3299 to create your own list. I also listed the address they were moving from and the address they were moving too along with my A number and a copy of my K-1 visa from my passport. They never bothered to look at my list or any of the items I was bringing.

So, now you can stop worrying about that one and get some sleep :) .

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I made my own list too. I just put box 1 - Alex's toys (dinos, trucks, cars), box 2 - children books etc. They never asked to see it and didnt go through my belongings. I asked two people if they wanted my list of items and both told me no. So I dont think you have to go into too much detail about what is in each box but I would make a list just in case they do ask to see it for some reason.

I just made a chart with a few headings such as ---Item--Serial # (if it was an $$ electronic item) IO didn't list every single item, but grouped things together (clothes, kitchen utensils, books, etc) Custom guy in Maine barely looked at it! never did look in my u haul truck--i know that for a fact as it was locked!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
