AP a second time?

My husband's IR-1 was approved in January 2009 and he asked to place the visa issuance on hold as his father was ill and he could not leave Venezuela within six months. In August 2010 I contacted the Embassy for direction on getting his visa issued. They required new medical, update police records with seal and my updated tax records. He just had his interview on Friday 10/15 with all the necessary paperwork and he was told his case needed to be held for administrative processing. This happened the first go around (he's in the Venezuelan military??, I don't really know the reason) and the AP took several weeks.

Does anyone know why AP would be required again? And it it likely to take as long as before? Just wondering if there is anything I can do to speed up the AP process......

Any ideas are welcome....

What the AP letter says?

Did he work with Venezuelan military before his first interview in 01/2009 or after? Did you submit the military records to the CO?

AP.. . As LOTo asked, did the letter mention a reason?

May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life's passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!

He's been in the Venezuelan National Guard since 1994 and was in the US on a diplomatic Visa for 5 years from 2001-2006. The Embassy has copies of his military records and my spouse has actually worked closely with the Embassy and DEA on deportation cases. He was approved for a tourist visa within days to transport a criminal to NYC. I thought this process would be a breeze.....

He was given a slip of paper that said his case was going to AP and to contact the Embassy in 2 weeks. They returned his passport but the interviewer verified his phone number and e-mail. This is exactly what happened the last time and I'm confused as to the reason for AP. Do they every tell you why the case is in AP?

I don't know the exact reason in this case. Wait for 2 weeks and contact the Consulate.
