My dad as he knew our plans to get marry this february offered to Pay for my fiancee and his friend's tickets. we are not rich tho, But in my country, philippines, and specifically in our family traditions, Its always the guy who pays for everything specially on the wedding. and knowing that, should it be a problem that its my dad whos paying for their airline ticket and as well as their accomodations here? I am 23 years old my girlfriend is 27. . I have never tried working, I am a Licensed Nurse and currently taking my Masteral Degree. knowing that, where will i look for money to finance for our wedding.lol.. but dad told us eversince, he and mom wants to pay for our wedding, not just to my wedding but to my other siblings also. do you think it will be a problem knowing that ? please help me.. the exact words coming from the letter was this: provide proof that the petitioner paid for the airline ticket. this evidence must come from the petitioner's credit card statement or another verifiable document..

by the way. the link i gave u is a forum, now scroll down a little. someone posted the letter. and the exact page i was referring was on page 3.

hey, got a question for you. You are the filipina girl? and your hubby is the american? was it you who paid for the plane ticket of your hubby when he came here to marry you?

No, he paid for his ticket when we got married in the Philippines. We both shared in the expenses for our wedding. it wasn't a big wedding, but an intimate gathering with 60+ people very close to us. His mother came also.

I paid for my ticket and my daughter's ticket before we moved to the U.S. last year.

In any case, we were never asked where the money came from.

The post you read was from an applicant in Egypt. Was this the part of the post that is worrying you?

Provide proof that the petitioner paid for the airline ticket. This evidence must come from the petitioner's credit card Statement, or any other verifiable document. If the petitioner used cash to purchase the ticket, please explain why she used such a large amount of cash for the purchase of the ticket, Also, the origin of funds must be shown for all cash ticket purchases. If the petitioner did not pay for the airline ticket, who did? Provide a notarized statement from the individual indicating why they paid for the petitioner's airline ticket.

They were given a very long RFE...we don't know the details of their case or their background but this is NOT something everyone goes through...we will never know the NVC's reasons for issuing such a list, but that is their list...not yours.

If the NVC DOES ask you to explain where the money came from, you can always present an affidavit from your dad that it came from him and present proof that it came from his savings or whatever source he will use to purchase the ticket...and explain it was a gift.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Airfare can easily be considered as part of the wedding expenses. If there is nothing in either your background or your fiancee's background that is questionable, then you shouldn't give it another thought.

thank you so much... i honestly dont worry too much about the visa thingy, because, I can wait and she i think is willing to stay here with me, im not sure with that tho.lol.. i was just alarmed! because, my dad was freaking out.lol.. I mean, in our family, it has been a tradition that its the guy who pays for the wedding. i guess my dad was freaking out because, if the statement was true that She should pay for her plane ticket, for sure, my dad will be so embarrassed to the family of my fiancee. we treat girls like a very precious stone. and money matters are not something we discuss with my fiancee because dad told me so that he and mom is willing to do everything. As i am the eldest child and the only boy in the family...lol.hehe...

but anyhow, thank you so much.....

There are no such "rules" but you'll want to do as much as possible to avoid the appearance of you or your family "hiring" the US Citizen to enter into a marriage for immigration purposes only. When the foreigner foots the bill for everything, it can look that way. USCIS will NEVER ask who paid for a ticket during a petition approval process but a Consular officer may well do so.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
