Passport pics or relationship pics?

I'm a bit nervous about RFE's... they seem to significantly delay stuff. Does anyone know if not having the birth certificate translated poses a problem if the passport photocopy was included in the app?

I applied for my I-765 around March/April and received it in July. I received an RFE for my pictures (!!) or it would have been sooner. Hang in there!

What do you guys see in your online portfolio? Mine has 4 files, just wondering about I-864, which I have no reference number for. How many files are in your portfolio online?

My checks were cashed the day I received the notifications. Congrats - we're one tiny step closer!

It looks like mine were, too, but it posted to my bank backdated today. Just setup an account and e-mail alerts on the USCIS website. Wasn't able to do that yesterday, but everything looks solid now. Initial review, touched today.

Mine doesn't list it, either, but I assume that is because the i-864 is evidence in support of the i-485, not an application itself. I wouldn't fret. :)

It was for passport pics...RFEs do stink. Did you include a copy of your birth certificate...I remember it's one of the requirements for one of the forms...

I included it,but didn't have it translated... I figured since I sent my passport copy they would see that it matched up.... I always wonder why they need a birth cert if you have a passport. You can't get a passport without a birth cert, can you?

Are you the petitioner or the beneficiary?

I'm assuming that you're the beneficiary. If that is the case, I hope I'm not worrying you. In the initial evidence section of the I-485 instruction, it says to submit a copy of your foreign birth certificate, and that "any document containing a foreign language submitted to USCIS shall be accompanied by a full English language translation..."

I'm not sure if that would be a cause for an RFE...

You know, I read that, and promptly forgot about it until I saw it mentioned on these forums lol. Well, if it causes an RFE sob it, there's worse things.... :bonk:

Didn't see a topic, so here goes...My wife and I sent our I-130/I-485 packages on the 12th overnight express, delivery confirmation today. Now to wait for the text/e-mail notification.

Any other October filers?

Is this a proper thread for October IR2 filers? I'm seeing mainly AOS folks here. If so, I sent my I-130 for my stepdaughter on 10/7 to the Chicago Lockbox (used wrong address for Express Mail, but it got delivered anyway a couple of days later (10/11); check cashed on 10/19; NOA1 received on 10/21. Priority date on NOA1 is 10/12. This is my second time through (first was obviously my wife back in 2004/2005. I had started a thread with a spreadsheet on everyone going through CSC with their IR1/2 or CR1/2 i-130 in the CR1/IR1 thread but apparently there is little interest. Also, I am trying to get ahold of an admin to help me fix my timeline. If someone knows an address, that would be helpful. Thanks and good luck to all.

When I made the thread, I was a little confused about where it went, since the AOS timeline has nothing about the i-130 or anything, so I figured I'd make an i-130 filing thread for those sponsoring their spouses, as they went through the process. In retrospect, I probably made a newbie mistake in where I placed my thread, since my wife is already in the US, and we are filing for AOS, too. In any case, please feel free to use this thread and the best of luck to you and your wife! :)

I'm completely baffled bye this thread. It's listed under IR-1/CR1 Filing and Case Reports, yet everyone responding seems to have filed an I-485 for adjustment of status. I've been given the distinct impression that IR1/CR1 visas got the beneficiary a Green Card right away and AoS is not required. Am I just confused? Or if not, where can I find the thread for October 2010 IR1/CR1 filers?

Thanks

Well your confusion (and mine) is understandable as explained by Khthon above. So to answer your question...you are filing for an CR1/IR1 visa which means you are already married (and judging by that handsome wedding photo, you are indeed married). If you are married for less than 2 years (Conditional Status - CR1), you will need to file for an Adjustment of Status (AOS) at the 1 year 9 month mark of the time your wife arrives in the US. You will have to go through getting biometrics and submit yet another package proving your relationship is bonafide. If successful, your wife will be given a 10 year Green Card. However...if you have already been married over two years when your wife comes to the US, you will get a IR1 visa and after entry into the US, your wife will be issued a 10 year Green Card. Hope that clears up that question for you.

Now for the second question...hmmm, I've done some looking around and there are several threads which seem to similar in nature. LotOfPatience started one sometime ago and is a regular contributor. Mrs T started a thread for July CR1/IR1 filers, again some great info in there. I like the idea of being able to track everyone applying for a visa through a specific service center so that you can get a feel for where you are and what direct progress is being made. I attempted to create a spreadsheet that would give everyone a quick glance of their status as they climb up the ladder so to speak. However, no one seems interested in it....go figure. It was very popular back during my wife's visa journey. Let me know if you have an interest if you are filing through CSC. :)
