Would help if you had a time line but be patient is all you can do, you are going through California office and from what I have read on here they are behind and just processing June petitions.

I know it is hard but the whole thing is a waiting game

Your spouse who is the US citizen needs to contact their senator's office and ask to speak to someone regarding immigration. This person will give a link to a document that you need to sign. It's basically saying the senator's office can see your case file. They'll contact USCIS on your behalf and find out why it's taking so long and how long you should wait. You should've done this as soon as your case was 150 days or 5 months old.

I suggest if they said November 3 then you wait, calling them again could make them a bit nasty or cross.
