Ukraine K-1 initial denial - next steps to fix

She's a scammer Phil. Believe it or not (easy for me to say now) after Alla read the letter and Birdman's letter her question was "Why on earth does this woman want to come to the USA? She has a guy paying her expenses, $1200 to Kiev from Odessa  and $900 for a computer? Why does she even want to go to an interview?"

My question is, where is this supposed consulate email coming from? Did she make this up? Did she send you a copied and pasted email? How does one pull that off?

I am curious how you found out also because she clearly intended to keep milking the cow.

DO NOT send money to women overseas unless you know them damn well, know what it is for and have discussed a budget and expenses first. And even then most Ukrainian women (sincere ones) will not ask for money or even accept it.

The exact source of the weird email may be closer to home, either one or zero degrees of separation by my estimation.

But I'll wait a couple of days until the supposed next "return from Kiev" to see what the story will be next.

The money flow has stopped.

I guess the good part about all this is that a.) I now have a house, and b.) a good job, and c.) new green grass that is growing nicely in my yard - all thanks to motivations from having her come over. If she would have just waited for me to re-caulk my bathtub and things would be perfect.

Interesting. So she doesn't know you know. Too bad you can't hop a flight to Odessa and go knock on her door while she is "in Kiev". Nah....you have enough invested already. Too bad.

There are a lot of really great, sincere Ukrainian women that make wonderful wives, there are a few scammers. Kiev is a "low fraud" consulate because the scammers are not the type that are really seeking a visa. The consulate never sees them. A lot of the scammers are not even women, they are men who get photos of women off the internet. You can be sure this one is scamming many other men and she has accomplices.

I read that also and I'd say that something seem very rotten with this also.

B-man may not have a real relationship and he is just buying this lady. All I know is that Ukraine K-1s are very easy but only if there is a legit relationship. For them to deny this or to act "strange" means to me that there is something strange about all this.

I wonder if B-man has the other evidence needed to prove his relationship or he just threw money at her and talked all the time on Skype?

I do wish him luck but only if there is a real relationship....if not then the Embassy is doing it's job. Remember that guy from earlier this year with the model/stripper/young thang? She made it here, so maybe there is hope.

Oh Phil, that guy with the model/stripper thang...MCat he is STILL posting. Now they are divorced but he is thinking of getting back together with her. That is the VJ Soap Opera thread. No one can be THAT stupid. Bad fiction.

Check the Ukraine portal, he has a recent post about his divorce which appeared out of nowhere after his last one said that she would fight the divorce. Really, Phil, it is a hoot!

Unlike MCat, I think B-man is real and got scammed and didn't even get laid in the deal (neither did MCat in his fiction story, but she was doing everyone else) B-man, Slim was right about Ukrainian women.

But she has "nice eyes"

Look a little lower...lower..uh huh. :wow:

Well, he should get re-married. I mean after 5 K-1s he finally got his young hottie to brag about. That's all he can brag about, nothing at all else but he can brag about it.

And then this guy here....sent how much money over there...moneygrams since January......I did pick up on that but thought that maybe there was something there.

Ouch, too bad about getting scammed.

Send her a broken laptop with listing value of $1,000. When she goes to pick it up, she'll have to pay a little tax. Then tell her a replacement is on the way and send her an empty box with another listed $1,000 value saying its the replacement.

It will be interesting to here what she says further so keep us posted if it's not too much trouble.

I think upon closer examination and with 20/20 hindsight it's quite obvious that either she wrote the email on her own or an accomplice wrote it for her (ie. the embassy had nothing to do with that email). As has been re-hashed several times, the problems listed in the original letter (lack of relationship basis and unemployment) don't correspond with what we know about the way the embassy works since unemployment is rarely to never an issue and your relationship basis is well above that which is typically required.

Also, if you read the original letter, the second time the word citizen is used, it is "громадянинкою". There is an extra "ин" in the middle. This probably resulted from using a form letter and not crossing out the part that referred to a male citizen. While I suppose that could happen at the embassy, it makes a lot more sense if it happened not at the embassy.

Obviously, the intention was to continue the scam as long as possible. If she went to the interview she would likely get the visa. By failing to get the visa, she could perhaps get you to continue to support her while supposedly waiting for another visa. At worst, she might get you to give up and you would never become aware of the fraud (as in "The Sting," the best frauds are when the defrauded doesn't realize it even after it's all over).

I'm saying this as a lesson learned for all of us since I don't think anyone here really knew what was going on, although it was obvious something was up.

Yep, obvious to me also. He'd gone over there for a visit to restart the process, and they'd go to the park and she throw him an eye (maybe with a tear) and he'd go gaga and start over, while sending her more money. Then she'd go through the whole thang again. Nice life for sure. And, if she's doing other guys similarly, then more power to her. Nice work.

To the OP, you fell for this so therefore you can possbily do it again. If you do pursue this avenue again, I'd recommend some deep reflection and determination next time. And stop falling in love with the eyes (or the photos).....lest you end up li,ke mcat!!!

*One of the problems in the FSU is the high level of education, making sophisticated scams is one of the talents.. so some not all..don't spam me for this other folks :)

* I wouldn't wait, first of all if she didn't go to the interview, she didn't leave a passport and won't be on the road. I would

call from a different number, or send email from a different email address she doesn't know and see if you get any response or answer.

If she picks up or responds, there is your answer.

And while I always try to err on the side of giving the benefit of the doubt, I am sorry you had to learn the hard way if that is what happened.

After reading this thread, as for me, I would send back this "automatic notification letter" to the Embassy and ask for English version with all her personal info ( birthdate, address, the full name, number of her international passport and case number ) and asked if an interview was held with your fiancee or not , if she was in the interview at all, on October 7th, 2010.

I have doubt she was in the interview at all. And this letter looks like a professional scammer letter for everybody. But it's just my opinion.

I have read of this. Some VJ members have contacted their fiancees through another email and they immediately began a "realtionship" with the new guy while being engaged "to another" Could be fun anyway.
