Divorce Decree

Trying to get everything in order for when we get the NOA2.

I have my original Divorce Certificate...It is certified....Looks like something you would frame and put on the wall..... All it says is that...Myself and my ex who were married on a certain date which was dissolved by judgment that became effective on a certain date. It is dated and signed and has the seal on it. Now is this good enough or do I need the paperwork that we filed? I just read in another thread that someone got an RFE for just sending the first 5 pages and the last 5 pages of a decree.

Please advise!

Thanks

Jeannie

My husband's divorce decree was only one page long. He and his ex wife had no property nor children together. He requested his from the county office. From what I understand, others have more pages because of details on division of property, children/custody issues or a lot of back and forth before coming to a decision.

So, i am confused. You have already sent off your I-129F. So you should have either included your certified Divorce Certificate or the full Certified Divorce Decree with the I-129F paperwork, right? If you have included it, then great, they have it. If not, then you will be sent a RFE requesting it. Why would you be asking about it after you have already filed?

When A sent his in, there were 2 documents technically - the final settlement agreement that covered kids, assets, etc. and a divorce decree, which was the portion stating they were married on xx/xx/xxxx and the marriage was dissolved in County, State on yy/yy/yyyy and signed and stamped by the judge. We assumed that they only really needed the second document, since what they're looking for is that both people are free to marry and not the details of the divorce settlement. Now I'm a little concerned, although maybe the set-up of the settlement and the decree or certificate varies state to state (and of course, country to country).

Thanks everyone for the responses. I did send a certified COPY of the divorce certificate with the I-129F package. But I have been reading posts and most mention the divorce decree. I have the original certificate with the seal on it as well. Mine was simple too, no small children and the assets were divided years ago. I guess I won't worry about getting the decree unless we get an RFE (which I pray we don't)

Thanks again everyone for the reassurances.
