Vaccine Information

I have been looking for information regarding required (not recommended) vaccines for Canadian's for the K-1 Consular Interview.

I am 25 yrs of age, will be 26 by the time of the medical/interview. I want to get my vaccines now so they can be covered by my health provider before going to my medical. I looked on VJ guides for immunization, but the information seems outdated as it still says I would need the HPV shot, which is no longer the case as per other forms.

I am curious if someone can give me an easy rundown of what I need for an interview after Jan 2011 at the earliest. Heading to my family doctor for a physical tomorrow and I would like to get the required info from her and any shots needed.

Thanks all!

Okay, I found the info on the Vancouver Consulates website, linked to the physician's website.

18-26

Tdap (Adacel) **make sure you get Tdap! (no other substitute)

MMR Measles, Mumps, Rubella. ("MR" and "MM" are not enough). You need MMR

Varicella - If you had "Chicken Pox" disease, no vaccine is needed

Is this inclusive, for those who have gone through the medical in Canada?

the way we did it was i had some blood work done to see how effective the vaccination i got in my childhood has been and whether or not i need to redo some of them.

after that i took the test results along with the vaccination card my pediatritionist used to keep track of my vaccination to the major vaccinating institute ( its the institute responsible for buying vaccines, testing them and doing free vaccination for selected diseases,i dk what its like in canada but it should be close to that ) they checked the blood work, and my vaccination card, and issued my international vaccination card, after that they took care of my chicken pox vaccine ( i have never had it,so i had to get a special one ) and that was it.

i hope it helped but it should give you a general idea

Excellent, thanks to you both!

I am trying to get my immunization records from childhood. I will speak with my doctor tomorrow as I just got a TDAP 2 months ago and should probably have another coming up this week. As for MMR, I have no idea if I got that, so my doctor can let me know if it is needed again. Sounds pretty smooth to me :)
