enough evidence?

Hello all,

I have a few questions and I hope to get some help. Thank you so much in advance.

Our 90-day window is coming up and I am really worried about our lease in CA. It expired after a year and we decided not to renew it so it automatically went

month to month. So we have no new lease agreement from them. Please give me some examples I could use as evidence?

This this what we have since we have moved:

tickets from our trips taken together

Photos from vacation & some family pictures

2 cars with both our names

joint auto insurance

Driver's license showing our address

some bank statements showing direct deposits from both our employers

credit cards

some utilities

Our new lease

joint taxes

Am I missing anything?

Hi gelato -

welcome to VJ!

There is no need to worry about the lease. The lease agreement is just one of many types of documents you can submit to show that you and your spouse are living together. Your list appears to have covered most of the main items.

It is highly recommended you include a cover letter and explain the type of evidence in it. It is a way to show the IO how your package is organized, and it also allows you to point out the lease being month to month. You can also indicate that it has been the same address all the time (since lease and during month to month). Just rememeber that you need to include evidence to track back two years ago and provide copies of statements every 3,4 or 6 months (your call) and show that both names have been on the same accounts the entire period.

One other recommendation, include a personal check and not a money order. You can see it clear in your bank account (and also keep for records) that you paid.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Your medical / life insurance showing spouse as beneficiary?

Any tax return checks from IRS or any other government checks in both your names?

Your retirement accounts showing spouse as beneficiary?

none of that. We both have temp jobs so no benefits. Would that be a problem? Thank you guys.

No it's not a problem... You have quite a bit already. I was just giving you ideas of what you could gather. Not everyone has the same set of documents. Think of anything joint and try to submit those.

I am preparing my package and realized that I dont really have any solid evidence. This is what I have so far:

Copies of passport and green card (immigrant spouse)

Copy of our childs birth certificate

Two sworn affidavits by USC friends

Random pages from out cell phone bill showing family plan with both users

Front page of our 2008 and 2009 tax returns

Copies of both users on car insurance

Copy of health insurance claims showing he's on my policy

Copies of our airline itineraries from 2009 and 2010 vacations

Utility bill in spouses name

Im trying to get a copy of something from my 401k showing him as beneficiary, and trying to find something that lists him as an authorized user on a credit card acct.

What else do I need to include? I can have a lease agreement written up if need be.

Is this enough?

OFFICIAL Tax Transcripts are much more preffered. Bank statements if any. Lease would surely help. Since you guys have a kid I think this should be good enough. Oh yes, make sure you add pictures too.

Thanks a bunch jkD. We dont have any joint bank accounts, although I could probably get something from the bank saying that we are eachothers beneficiary. I guess I'll ask the landlord to draw up a lease. I will include some pics too. Thanks for the reminder.

Silly question, do u think it matters if I send print out of pics rather than actual pics?

Gelato,

you have quite a nice package together already showing that you guys live together. Nothing to worry about.

The photos of the trips you took together alone will tell 'em everything they need to know.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Copy of passport for immigrant spouse is not needed....

Actual pics would be better... If you have digital pics, just save them on some sort of media, go to nearest Walgreen and get 4X6 copies of few pictures (6 cents each). Also, you don't have to send whole album....just 5-10 pics are enough....

Silly question, do u think it matters if I send print out of pics rather than actual pics?

Cool, thanks. I will go print some up. I'll attach them in a plastic ziplock bag like I did during the K1 process.

Thank you guys. I am really thankful to my husband who is helping me put everything together. He has been really supportive throughout the process and by the time I apply for my citizenship we'll have lots more evidence. So wish me luck and we'll mail in my package early next month. Thank you again and good wishes to one and all.
