I am in Canada now..

We always celebrate a week early so everyone is free for the long weekend. I am driving back to NYC on Sunday and unfortunately both Bobby and I work on Monday so we will likely just order take out. lol

We're celebrating it with with my mom and some of her friends on the US side. It feels weird though knowing the US Thanksgiving is so far away. I mean, by then I am finished Halloween mode and in Christmas mode pretty much! There is no room for a holiday in there. Fall is over! Thanksgiving is probably my biggest adjustment haha.

Since most of my husbands friends are living in the barracks and their families are so far away though we're throwing a big dinner for all of them at our place in November. So I get the best of both nationalities :)

See profile for our K-1 Visa/AOS story from 2010-2011Apparently we love USCIS/NVC so much we left and are doing it again! This time giving IR-1 a whirl. Rock on immigrators.

07/09/2014 sent in IR-1 packet to Chicago Lockbox

04/09/2015 IV payment finally accepted by NVC after the set the wrong fee and took weeks to correct it.

*many more delays thanks to the agency processing my fingers prints to the RCMP and the post office losing our mail*

05/20/2015 Packet sent to NVC via UPS, eta May 28.

Oh my. This is happening more and more often. That must have been very stressful for you. How did you hear about it? Did you have to negotiate the cash for keys or did they just offer it? How much time did they give you to move? ugh. Hope you have a great new house now.

Krikit, it's not so bad. Our landlord told us it was happening, and we'd had an auction notice on the door.We actually got a few months of free rent before the auction as well as the cash for keys deal. The person who bought it at auction wants to flip it so he wanted us out. I can say, if this happens to anyone reading this, that it is important to be very aware of what your rights are as a tenant, because there are a lot of good laws in place to protect you but it seems that many agents/developers/etc really try manipulate you. We knew we were entitled to stay for 60 days before he could serve us. Our cash for keys move out deal did take some negotiating but as soon as he realized that we knew our rights, he was much more willing to work with us... now he knows he is guaranteed a nice, clean empty condo within a week and we have some spare money to move with. PLus, we had already found and signed a lease on a new, way more awesome place:) When we got the second auction notice on the door, we knew it was time to find another place!

Oops, edited to add: We offered to be gone in a week (Because we'd already found somewhere to move, heh. Of course we did not say that). We got $2,000.

This is how it turned out :D

I'm quite proud of it. First time I've cooked a whole chicken type thing, brined them first. There was lots of food but it was surprisingly light, I feel really full but not too heavy, which is nice :D

Looks Yummy Danu!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I'm doing Rock Cornish game hens for our Canadian Thanksgiving dinner - a little less meat than a turkey breast but certainly as yummy. We'll do the stuffing and potatoes and garden veggies as well :-).

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

My Canadian husband and I will be celebrating Canadian Thanksgiving here in the U.S. He is really bummed because he wanted to be with his family (everyone else is together at his parent's home). He really wanted "New Brunswick style" baked beans so they went in the crock pot last night. When I get home, I will be finishing up the mashed potatoes and dressing roast with cream of mushroom sauce. There will be corn and hot rolls on the side.

My husband's birthday is coming up later this week and I think that is most of bummed part for him since his family always celebrated his birthday for him at Thanksgiving (although it was usually early).

My husband is taking care the cooking today. He just made the cranberry sauce and is now cutting up his homemade bread to make the stuffing now. We went apple picking yesterday and there's an apple pie baking in the oven. Omg it smells so good in here and the turkey isn't even in the oven yet! :D

I love turkey day.
