Anyone having issue with DS-230? I downloaded the form but not letting me save or edit..any thoughts? error "you can not save completed copy of this form on computer"

You can only save the form as it is(blank)

any information that you type in will not be saved...

u have to type and print out the page immediately before exiting the Pdf file...

You should be able to edit it, just not save it.

yes you have to manually fill out everything everytime...

you cannot save a filled form... everything wipes our clean once u close it...

Save this form-type in to it-print it out.

In their signature is a DS-230 form that you can download, edit AND save

He was able to unlock the USCIS form and allow users to save the information.

@ marriedtomrg: The link you asked to download and save actually has the form but its a version since 05-2009. The always stress on using the latest version for the DS forms. Please be guided.

The best you can do is edit the form(latest version) and print it out. if you need a copy for record purposes you can either make a copy or scan it to your records.

Try to open the form in Foxit Reader program for PDF files. Makes any USCIS protected forms fillable and editable (and savable!). Good luck.

Make sure you fill out everything. Anything that isn't applicable, write N/A.... if you see any line asking you for anything, fill it with a 'none' or N/A or whatever.

Also you may want to consider the section where it asks you if you want the US Consulate to apply for the SSN on your behalf. Many of us did just that only to have delays because no SSN came in. And if you advise the SSN office of this they will make you wait even longer before they issue you a card because the US Consulate is supposed to be doing that on your behalf if you check the YES on the DS 230.

It's far faster to simply check off NO and then when you get down here, apply in person at your local SSN office.

I realize that this is a long way down the road for you guys given that you are now filling out the DS 230 package but you are filling it out and are about to send it so heads up.

Thanks for the tip.. I had the SSN field checked yes...now i changed it to NO. I wasn't sure if it is mandatory to check yes there...should i check NO for 44? I am filing it out for my spouse and email it so she can print and sign...

I filled YES in my wife's previous GC time and received SSN as per the timeline.

But recently, people has hard time to receive SSN after arriving the U.S. In that case, you can visit the SS office to apply one, irrespective of the checking YES and NO.
