I applied for K1 in July but still no approval?

I applied for my fiance living in India for a K1 visa at the California Center on July 3 but I still have not received an approval letter. It has been 2 and a half month. Is this normal?

I already checked the status at USCIS site and it says, wait for a letter in the mail to let me know whether my application is accepted or rejected. I have not been asked for nay additional paperwork either.

Average processing time for an I-129F is 5 months. You are still within average processing times; but you have to be prepared to wait longer (some members have). Contact USCIS only if you have waited over 160 days without any kind of update or letter. Worst case, contact your congressman or senator.

You might know something within 150 days.

Don't have any official freak-out until 180 days have passed.

Yep, we're all in the same boat. Basically no June filers on VJ have heard anything, so we are in for quite the wait since we're a month behind them. It seems like the CSC has stopped approving K visas in the last months for some reason, they are very slow. I doubt we'll hear anything until November or December at this rate.

I thought my fiance would get a visa in 5 months after i filed for her, is that not true? If i have to wait 150 to 180 days just to get the K1 approved, then it would take another 5 months to have the papers sent to India, and then the consulate there do their process, that means it might take 10 to 11 months for her to get a visa .... is that right?

I filed our petition in June of 09.. my fiance will pick up the visa this Thursday... there are no guarantees as to how long the process will take... there are average times, but each case is unique... be prepared for a long wait and if it is issued sooner.. trhen great..

not necessarily.the average time for CSC is five months, correct, after that your case gets to NVC,for a VERY short period of time, usually no longer than seven days ( again the keyword is usually ) then its sent to the embassy right away.they set you a date depending on how busy the schedule is and that will be it.

HOWEVER thats the ideal process,it can take longer,it can also happen way faster.

it all depends,it can go anywhere from 5 months.

Yes, or maybe even longer... We can all hope for a quick approval, but some members have waited for months adding to more than a year!
