I had a totally depressing conversation with my Congressional liason today. I was grateful that she returned my phone call - calling me at work in early afternoon. But...

She was direct with me about how congressional inquiries are not encouraged - rather discouraged. Her "experience" was that they only slow the process. So, she would not make any calls. Also, she would not relay my concerns to my Congressman. I tried to remain civil and appreciative. The message in short was that there is nothing that can be done to urge the process forward - no oversight that will unclog the system. Let them gain their "expertise" in the various service centers was her comment to me.

What a depressing way to begin the weekend. :cry:

Well, that sucks BlueSurf.

From what I have seen here, inquiries through State representatives seemingly helps only 1 out of every 50 cases.

Praying may be more productive.

Okay, so I'm scratching my head. You got an NOA1 4 months ago, everything's going smoothly, and you wanted your Congressman to do what? Change the system immediately? Get your petition approved sooner than others? What? Now you're going to have a depressing weekend. Why? I'm with William33. Better apply to the big guy upstairs!

It's only been 22 days since they received your IMBRA RFE. The USCIS says to give them 60 days to process it, if you haven't heard anything within 60 days to contact them. I've noticed lately approvals have been coming anywhere from 1-49 days after receipt. The truth is, at this point there really is nothing you can do but wait. I think you should enjoy your weekend and rejoice in the fact that it's moving forward and you should have an answer soon. Don't worry!! everything should be fine.

06/30/06- sent I-129F petition to VSC.

07/11/06- NOA1 (received in mail)

07/19/06- RFE received in mail, IMBRA

07/28/06- e-mail, IMBRA RFE received at VSC

09/11/06- called VSC, told I'm with an adjudicating officer

09/25/06- called VSC, told to file expedited service, outside 60 days of RFE received date

09/26/06- sent expedited service request to VSC via fax and snail mail

09/26/06- Senators and Congressman making inquiries into my petition

09/29/06- expedited service request approved by VSC director

10/04/06- e-mail NOA2 approved!!!!!!

10/05/06- NVC received

10/06/06- NVC forwarded to Poland Embassy

02/17/07- Ania and I were MARRIED!!!!!!

07/24/07- Social Security Card in hand- after some minor issues and a little procrastination :)

10/14/07- I-485, I-765, and permission to travel mailed to USCIS

10/17/07- Received NOA1

12/17/07- I-485 shipped to California Service Center for faster service

12/17/07- I-765 approved new card should be mailed within 30 days, Advanced parole approved

02/28/08- AOS APPROVED!!!! PERMANENT RESIDENT CARD RECEIVED!!!!! (card received couple weeks after approval)

Yeah .. don't worry about the congressional brushoff man .. They don't get involved often.. they will only get involved if it is a serious delay . many of us found out.. so if by january you dont have a noa2 they may ask where it is.. they really can't do anything for you .. Plus they are looking for votes man .. its almost that time.. think they would spend time with the few thousand we are when there is much more money and votes elsewhere.. sad to say .. but that is how it is. (my congressman said the same)
