So any ideas on how long we should possibly wait to give USCIS a call to see if they're going to expedite our petition? Another week if we don't hear anything is my thought.

Expedite requests are usually granted within 3 weeks. IMO, the only way to stay on top of it, is for the USCitizen/Petitioner to call in, ask to speak with ISO, Tier 2 Human, at USCIS - see http://www.dhs.gov/xabout/structure/gc_1221837986181.shtm#5

We received a letter from USCIS that Matt needs to sign to send the expedite request. Did you do that also?

Hello again, everyone!

As what all of you advised that we should get ready with NVC papers, we will start with filling up the I-864. We came up with the following questions:

1. Since Matt's mom is co-sponsoring and she will be signing the I-864A, does this mean that Matt is going to pay $88 for his I-864 and another $88 for his mom's I-864A?

2. What is his current individual annual income? Is it the one showed in IRS for 2010?

3. What is his current household annual income when he is now living with his parents?

4. Is number 24b which says, Income you are using from any other person who was counted in your householdsize, including, in certain conditions, the intending immigrant. (See step-by-stepinstructions.) Please indicate name, relationship and income. --- This is where his mom's income goes?

These are all for now :D We hope to hear from you, guys! :)

God bless us! :)

There is only one $88 fee for AOS review.

2. What is his current individual annual income? Is it the one showed in IRS for 2010?

He can show it from his latest employment letter or from the last year tax transcript's "Total Income" line.

3. What is his current household annual income when he is now living with his parents?

His income will be shown. Then his mom's income will be shown. Then both will be added together to get current household income.

4. Is number 24b which says, Income you are using from any other person who was counted in your householdsize, including, in certain conditions, the intending immigrant. (See step-by-stepinstructions.) Please indicate name, relationship and income. --- This is where his mom's income goes?

That's correct.

These are all for now :D We hope to hear from you, guys! :)

God bless us! :)

Here is the IV Packet

IV Packet

a. Bar-coded cover sheet

b. 2 Passport-sized photographs of the beneficiary

c. Completed and signed form DS-230 Part 1 by the beneficiary

d. Completed and 'unsigned' form DS-230 Part 2 by the beneficiary

e. Photocopy of the biographic data page of the beneficiary's passport

f. Original/Certified birth certificate of the beneficiary

g. Original/Certified marriage certificate of the beneficiary and the petitioner

h. Original police certificate(s) of the beneficiary

Thanks in advance.

I still have a long way to get to NVC but it doesn't hurt learning about it in advance.

My questions are:

1: Original/Certified birth certificate of the beneficiary,, what if she doesn't have the birth certificate from her country or if she does have it, does she have to have it translated to English?

Yes she will need it and it will have to be translated.

2: Original police certificate(s) of the beneficiary,, how does she get this? Does she go to the police station and ask for it?

If you are referring to a Canadian police certificate, she can get it from her local police station or RCMP detachment. See the link below for more specific requirements. Scroll down to Police Certificates, go into the "Reciprocity by Country" link and check out the requirements for Canada.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply. I read them and I still have a question. How long in advance can a background check be made before NVC asks for one? I want to have it done before so that we can save on time. Is that possible? If so how long (in months) is the police record good for?

Yes, you can have the police check done before NVC asks for it. I had mine done in June for work and submittedit in March to NVC - now by the time my interview rolled around I needed a new one because Montreal will only accept them if they are less than a year old so just be aware of that

Good luck

I waited until I had my NOA2 to obtain the police certifcate but I stared researching options as soon as I mailed in the I-130. I was able to get my certificate from the local RCMP detachment (I was in Niagara region) the same day I applied at no cost. Simply showed up, filled out a form, they took my picture, I waited about 15 minutes and had the form in hand. As canadian_wife posted you don't want to get it too early so I would suggest checking out services and wait-times in your area and plan accordingly. Good luck!

Us again :D

So moving forward, I am going to get the civil documents in the city (I have to go there by boat :D ). I will send everything to Matt after I completed and confirmed that I lack nothing anymore. Please advise from the following.

From the IV Packet

a. Bar-coded cover sheet ---> What is this?

b. 2 Passport-sized photographs of the beneficiary ---> Do you advise me to send more taken from two different studio? Like 2 from studio A and another 2 from studio B. Because each studio has different quality. Just in case they want it to be replaced.

c. Completed and signed form DS-230 Part 1 by the beneficiary ---> Sending more than one copy is good, right?

d. Completed and 'unsigned' form DS-230 Part 2 by the beneficiary

e. Photocopy of the biographic data page of the beneficiary's passport

f. Original/Certified birth certificate of the beneficiary

g. Original/Certified marriage certificate of the beneficiary and the petitioner

h. Original police certificate(s) of the beneficiary ---> I'm going to get this next month since it will be valid for 1year. I'll get two for my own copy also. Right?

i. 1 set Photocopy of all the above civil documents

From AOS Packet:

a. Bar-coded cover sheet ---> What is this?

b. Completed and signed form I-864 by the petitioner

c. IRS tax transcripts for the last three years

(Call IRS at 800-829-1040 to order them for free)

d. Petitioner's employment letter

e. Petitioner's pay stubs for the current year

Matt's mom is a co-sponsor: (I just made this up. Please confirm.)

a. Another bar-coded also?

b. Completed and signed form I-864A by Matt's mom

c. IRS tax transcripts for the last three years

(Call IRS at 800-829-1040 to order them for free)

d. Co-sponsor's employment letter

e. Co-sponsor's pay stubs for the current year

Waiting for whoever have time to response :)

Thank you and God bless us! :)
