So, we are starting to collate the NVC requirements. We start off with the co-sponsorship thing since I was studying before and I just had a stable job. My mom is co-sponsoring, so she needs to fill out the I-864a along with my I-864, right? I-134 is not needed right?

I'll ask more questions as we fill out the form. Please bear with me.

Thank you so much and God bless our petitions! :)

If your mom lives at your address (household member), yes, she will file I-864A with your I-864.

I-134 is not needed at all for IR1/CR1, that's for non-immigrant categories.

Waiting to hear more questions :)

Yay! Thank you so much! Mom will soon be reviewing all the papers. Basically, we both need to send IRS and w2s for the past 3 years, right? That's all for financial docs, right?

Matt,

IRS tax transcripts (it's free!) for the last 3 years from both are the best, than W-2/1099,1040 and schedules.

Here is a quick summary of the entire process: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/EZGuideSpouse

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I bookmarked the page. Thank you so much for that. About the passport-size photographs, I have here one left from G325A, my question is, can I scan this and print on my own? Hehe, silly question. I should have sent only one photo from G325A. Anyway, is that ok? About the original birth and marriage certificates, I sent originals to USCIS when I filed I-130 and 129F, what I have now left is Certified True Copy, so will they accept this, won't the USCIS send my original files to NVC? It just cost more money to order it in the Philippines and have them send it to me again. But I will do that if that's the option left.

Thank you!

I-130 and I-129F instructions are clear about 'photocopy is acceptable'.

so if you aren't reading the instructions when filing, be prepared to pay more, later

as NVC requires 'original documents' or 'certified copies'.

Oh, I have one Certified True Copy. So, this will work. Thanks!

I thought we have enough originals by then so we opted to send to originals. I hope I can get all my original certificates from USCIS.

I bookmarked the page. Thank you so much for that. About the passport-size photographs, I have here one left from G325A, my question is, can I scan this and print on my own?

Scanning the photo will not work. Since you have lot of time for NVC, ask her to send 2 more photographs. Anyway, she needs to take 12 to 16 photographs until the interview.

Hehe, silly question. I should have sent only one photo from G325A. Anyway, is that ok? About the original birth and marriage certificates, I sent originals to USCIS when I filed I-130 and 129F,

You were NOT supposed to send the originals to the USCIS with I-130. They will NEITHER return it to you NOR to forward to NVC. Only way you can get them back is, after I-130 completion you need to contact USCIS to return it back by filling the form G-884 (http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=dccb5d4c6608e010VgnVCM1000000ecd190aRCRD&vgnextchannel=db029c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD)

what I have now left is Certified True Copy, so will they accept this,

NVC will accept the Certified Copies. But still you need the originals at the Interview.

won't the USCIS send my original files to NVC?

NO

It just cost more money to order it in the Philippines and have them send it to me again. But I will do that if that's the option left.

Please refer the above note to get the originals back after I-130 completion. Otherwise, originals will be part of your file with the USCIS.

Thank you!

Thank you so so much! Thank you for replying to my dumb question. Just for the heck of it. But really, thank you! My mind is enlightened now. Yea, I'll ask my wife about it. It will only take 3days for me to get it though. So maybe, mid or late October, she'll start collating the requirements to send it to me.

So, I can file G-884 as soon as the USCIS approved the petition? Even if it is still in NVC process?

Hey, I can't wait to hear about my expedite request this week. Hope to get a positive reply. I will be calling USCIS on Tuesday. :D

So, I have an additional question. I'm living with mom, dad, and sister but she's now lodging near her school. If my mom will co-sponsor me to bring my wife over, how many household unit are we? What is the 125% poverty line in this situation? Oh, dad is working in the government but only mom will be the one who will sign the papers. So, she will be the co-sponsor only.

If your mom has filed separate tax return in the last years, her household is 1.

If your mom has filed joint tax return with your father last years, her household is 2.

If your mom has filed separate tax return with your sister as dependent in the last years, her household is 2.

If your mom has filed joint tax return with your father and sister is dependent in her return last years, her household is 3.

Plus, you and your wife are always included - 2.

Now you can derive the total household size and the poverty guideline is here: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-864p.pdf

Another question :D

When my wife comes over, we are planning to rent an apartment on our own. This won't bother, right? Even if my mom was a co-sponsor and she signed the I-864a?
