Hi all. I haven't been here in a while... Just waiting for some sort of answer. I have been to Ukraine 3 times now. It is so painful to be apart from her. This feels like we are wasting so much good time right now.

We filed our I-129F on July 8th. We are currently on the "decision" button.

My question is: When we get our "decision" and assuming it is accepted, What is our next step?

And 1 more question: On the "Proof of income" Since I am self employed, What do I need to show? and more important, when?

Thanks in advance!

You have a while more to wait.

You can prepare your documents for the interview, translations for the consulate are no longer required. Get her birth certificate on hand, marriage and divorce certificates (if any) military papers (if any), etc.

As for the I-134 they prefer current information but you can prepare what you will need. Get the list of needed documents from the Kyiv website and just get everything on the list that applies to your case ready.

They are looking at your personal current income. There are two ways you can do this. One is by a audited "profit and loss" statement from an accountant. Another is to show a bank letter referring to your personal account at your bank (not your business account) that states the amount of deposits made in the past 12 months. This can support your "current annual income" statement for the I-134.

On tax returns you need to include all schedules and forms. They will use the income from LINE 22. Business income does not count to sponsor an immigrant, it must be personal income. Attach last years tax return. There is no need to attach three years unless it looks better for you...probably won't because they go more by current income than previous income.

If you are a self employed person that writes off most or all of your income as expenses and costs in order to avoid payroll tax, pays a lot of your expenses through your business account and deposits little in a personal account (perfectly legal and often the case) then you will be needing to line up a co-sponsor.
