Hello everyone,

Do you have any idea if a credit score will affect the petition?

Thank you and God bless!

Nope not one bit. I was literally in bankruptcy when I filed my petition. They do not check your credit. As long as you meet the poverty guidelines for the AOS you are ok!

Thank you. That was a relief! Cause my credit score went down because of the recent collection that went to my account that I wasn't really responsible about. So I'm trying to fix it. Thank you so much!

Hmmm, this made me think. I have a security freeze on my credit at all 3 reporting agencies...meaning that nobody can even check my credit unless I unfreeze it beforehand. Do you think this will cause problems with USCIS? Do they even pull credit reports? It doesn't seem like they do, but I don't want an RFE for it!

IR-5

  • USCIS scan date - 11/07/2014
  • NVC scan date - 03/06/2015
  • NVC case complete - 08/01/2015

credit score? no

but - if a credit history report is pulled, will see some history - so if any prior spouse financial issues, it might show up in the credit history report.

And usually, if 'current' co-mingling cr@p with prior spouse - then MAY BE some issue on interview day - Visa Officer might want to see stuff on any prior spouse, like

--current utility bill from prior spouse

--current address on prior spouse

so - check yer own credit history report, see if any 'prior spouse history' there, with 'current accounts' or not.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
