For our K-1 he payed for the application. I payed for my medical and I payed for the visa fee. Then we both payed half for the AOS fee $505 each. We felt it was a good choice to do for us. It worked and it helped us both instead of cleaning out savings of one of us to pay for it all.

That seems like it's fair. I thought I was doing the fair thing by paying for over half the costs, but she told me that when she went for the medical exam, and started to talk with other women there, they told her that their fiance paid for the exam and she was asking me to do the same (again). I explained to her all of the costs that have been involved (again) and tried to explain what I thought was fair. She does have the money, but she wanted me to pay as a matter of principal.

Thats a leading topic.. you may want to have a serious talk with her about things like that so that it doesnt impact your marriage.

Myself the way I thought of it was that he was paying to start the process but I was the one who had to have the medical so its mine to pay, same for the visa its going on my passport so its mine to pay. Making him pay for a medical and a passport sticker that hes not getting wasnt fair to him. We made sure to have a money talk so that our finances and things would be in order and we wouldnt be arguing or having tiffs about who pays for what later on as well.

It sounds reasonable to me...unless she doesnt work for some reason and it is hard for her to get that kind of money....Then it would be okay for you to pay. remember for better or worse richer or poorer sickness and in health.....sometimes those things take place before you take your vows...good luck with whatever decision you decide :innocent:

I have paid all the Visa fees so far, and probably will up until it's time to file for AOS. We came up with this arrangement because my fiance bought a house for us in June, and it would be unreasonable of me to expect him to make house payments as well as Visa fees.

It honestly all depends on the couple. Different couples pay the costs in different ways. I think it is slightly ridiculous that she wants you to pay due to "principle"... sounds childish and immature to me, and I'd have a talk with her about it for sure. If it goes undiscussed, money will likely become an issue somewhere down the line and you don't want something like that coming between you two after working this hard to be together, IMO.
