Help with N-400 I don't know how to fill it out?

Hello guys,

I'm kind of like finished filling the N-400 form out, but I have some problems with it. I tried to call their customer service number, but the representative did not really help me much.

The N-400 form that I am using is from USCIS website, and the edition is 04/05/2010.

Here are some of my questions:

1. I am using my PC to fill out the N-400 form, should I type in all the info in CAPS(All letters in uppercase)? Because it says on the first page on top Type your answers in CAPITAL letters

2. What do I write on the answer fields that I don't have an answer? Should I leave them blank or should I write something like N/A, none?

3. On Part 3 letter F, it asking me if either my parents is US Citizen. My biological mother is not, but my step-mother is. Should I put No because my real mother(deceased)?

4. On Part 6 letter B, can I type Present under "Dates (mm/dd/yyyy), To" because I am still currently employed to my work? When I input Present, it gave me an error saying not a valid date or something like that, but it took it though.

Also, can I use just the month and year (mm/yyyy) because I can't remember the exact date when I started college and work?

5. On Part 8 letter A, I have never been married should I put 0 in the box?

6. On Part 12, I am the one who's filling this form out, should I write my name or leave it blank?

7. About sending the form, do I need to use a particular envelop?

8. I am planning to use USPS, which destination address should I use? I live in Maryland.

9. Let me just double check the stuff that are need to be sent. The form N-400, two passport size pictures with my name and A number written on the back of both pictures, scanned copy of my green card(back and front), and $675 money order. Am I still missing anything that should go in the envelop?

I'm apologize if I have too many questions, I can't really afford to make mistakes, $700 is a huge amount for me.

You can, but you don't need to. I didn't.

You write either NONE or N/A, whatever seems more appropriate.

The answer is NO.

Current is the date TODAY.

Don't go gagga over these things; do you think I remember when exactly we moved from one location to the other?

If you have never been married; it's 0. If you are married now, it's 1.

6. On Part 12, I am the one who's filling this form out, should I write my name or leave it blank?

Blank.

7. About sending the form, do I need to use a particular envelop?

I used a plain vanilla folder, with everything in it. I sent it via USPS Express Mail.

8. I am planning to use USPS, which destination address should I use? I live in Maryland.

Look it up. Go to the USCIS Web site and search under N-400 there.

Depends. If you are filing based on marriage (any case you are not a Green Card holder for 5 years or longer), you should include formal tax transcripts. They are available free of charge and will be mailed to you within 2 weeks.

I am a Permanent Resident (Green card) holder, and I have never left Maryland since 2004.

If you have never been married; it's 0. If you are married now, it's 1.

On Part 8 letter B,C,D,E,F,G, I should put "None" to all the boxes or should I just skip it and jump over to Part 9?

On Part 7 letter C, since I never left the US, should I put N/A?

On Part 9 letter A, I put 0 since I don't have a child; and on letter B, should I write None since I don't have any?

If you never have been married, then yes, just "0" in A and that's it for part 8.

You can put N/A in the first field. Or not.

On Part 9 letter A, I put 0 since I don't have a child; and on letter B, should I write None since I don't have any?

N/A. The "none" is covered by the "0" in number A.

I checked the USCIS website and they have a express mailing address, and I read it somewhere(can't remember where) that that is for non-USPS.

UPS and FedEx do not deliver to a Post Office Box. USPS does and the USCIS default address is one honking metal box. However, the Express Mail envelope need to be hand-delivered to a real address. Mark the field signature required!

I checked the USCIS website and they have a express mailing address, and I read it somewhere(can't remember where) that that is for non-USPS.

These two addresses where I should send my application according to the website. Since I am going to use USPS express mail, should I send my application to the first address or to the second address?

For Express Mail or courier deliveries, use the following address:

USCIS Attn: N-400, 2501 S State Hwy 121, Business Suite 400, Lewisville, TX 75067

According to the M-476, page 34, 2nd column, the second address is for non-USPS. If I use USPS express mail, does it mean I still need to send my applications to the first address?

Just our own personal experience when dealing with the USCIS. We never received faster service then sending the N-400 first class mail. Since we always pay by personal check, can tell instantly when they received it by checking our bank account on line.

Beginning to think when you send it overnight where someone has to sign for it, they toss it in a pile and leave it there for a couple of weeks. Besides, anything you receive from the USCIS is sent via first class mail.

But, just our own personal experience.

How do I sign it? Do I have to write my first name and last name, do I have to type it in on the computer my name and last or sign it just like signing a check?

You fill out the entire form on the computer, which includes your A number on the upper right corner on the first page. It will automatically be transferred on all of the pages.

Then, when you're done, you do Part 11 entirely by hand.

I just signed it the way I sign my checks.

I just bought an money order from USPS, how do I fill it out? I have never done this before.

The Pay to got to be the U.S. Department of Homeland security.

The Address(below Pay to) The Address of U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

The Memo I guess just a note or something.

The From is going to be my name.

The Address (below From) I would assume that is my address.

The Clerk I have no idea what that is for.

About the Address part on the money order for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, what address should I write there?

Is this USCIS, P.O. Box 660060,Dallas, TX 75266 the address I should write on the money order?

That address is the destination address where I should send my application. I also grab an express mail envelop from USPS, should I use that address?

But since you have a money order, everything you wrote is correct. in MEMO I would write:

But since you have a money order, everything you wrote is correct. in MEMO I would write:

Daughter got a Western Union money order for something else when she could have wrote out a personal check, but changed her mind. Had to fill out a bunch of forms, pay a fee, and wait a month to get her money back. Never heard of such a thing, banks are going crazy. USCIS accepts personal checks and you have your canceled check as a receipt with your receipt number written on it. Actually when my daughter told me what that money was for, I changed her mind for her, she could have been screwed.

We paid from our joint bank account that is a form of evidence, and just to be a smarta$$, both my wife and I signed it.

While part 11 doesn't state a complete signature, part 14 does, have to do the same on your certificate and US passport, like our forms to be consistent. And consistent they were, same old stuff we submitted with the AOS and I-751, so most of the form was filled out in a copy and paste operation. Besides that, saved time in looking all this stuff up again.

Wife for whatever reason was a bit stubborn on part 11, no problem with 14, I wasn't there, but on her certificate and US passport to sign her complete name, first, MI, and surname. Just do it as instructed.

I have a question about N400 part 6 B. In the instruction, it said write down each place you work or study. I studied in a community college which his three branches in three different locations. Did I need to write each branch address and the year I studied separately or can I write only the main address and the year I started and finished school?.

If you physically went to three different locations, put all three. It wouldn;t really matter much as the school attendance is not basis for naturalization. Said another way, if you provide one or three addresses, you should be fine either way as long as you give the right timelines (start to finish if one address, total duration broken down into three if three addresses)

First of all, thank you so much for your replay. I studied in all three campuses. The college name is waketech community college but the campuses names are different like North campus, Health science campus etc. So, in the name area, I will write waketech community college and in the address area I am gonna write the campuses address. Also, I took in one online class for three months. Did I have to write the website name?
