Hi just need some assistance. My wife lives in Toronto, we are going to get our I-130 approved pretty soon, and we are starting to gather all the NVC documents. I was curious how does she go about getting the PCC in Toronto. We call some police stations and the woman were rude who answered the phone . We didn't really get a clear definitive answer to the question. So some help would be greatly appreciated for the process in Ontario.

Go to the local Police or the Ontario Provincial Police station.

Ask for the Canada National Repository name check.

IF you DO NOT HAVE A RECORD:

You do NOT need an RCMP check.

You do NOT need fingerprints.

You do NOT need the sex offenders.

Though getting any of this never hurts your case =)

IF you --DO-- have a record then you will need that,

as well as any papers relating to your case saying you did your time/court stuff/whatever the case my be.

All police certificates are accepted for ONE YEAR regardless of what they say they are 'valid' for.

Don't forget to take the original and a copy with you to your interview.

Good luck =)

Depends on where you are. In Ottawa it said it can take months. Which is crazy because it is just a quick check. I got mine same day because I have a family member on the force. I have been told its quicker with the RCMP, but either way I would go ahead and get it now. It's only $15.

See profile for our K-1 Visa/AOS story from 2010-2011Apparently we love USCIS/NVC so much we left and are doing it again! This time giving IR-1 a whirl. Rock on immigrators.

I had mine done in Ottawa (at the Kanata OPP office) and had it in 15 minutes. I think it cost me $30.
