expedited citizenship

I'm not asking if it's a good idea. It wasn't even my idea to try it. My husband wants me to have citizenship as soon as possible due to repeated deployments and security clearance.

He read that all physical residency requirements can be waived if the military spouse (him - USC) is to be deployed. "The overseas assignment of the U.S. citizen must be one year or more after taking the oath of naturalization. In order to be eligible for the expeditious naturalization USCIS must find that marital unity exists"

Has anybody ever done that and succeeded?

Again, it wasn't my idea so spare me any talk of why military spouses should be treated any special.

But if he really wants to do this for me I need information on how to go about this and how to time it so that I can still apply in my country for keeping my citizenship in Austria aswell.

Do a search on military spouse naturalization, 319(b) naturalization - there's a number of people who have done it.

What you do need is the military orders proving your husband is being deployed for 12 or more months. If he is not deploying any time soon, sorry, but you won't be able to apply.

Thank I'll do the search. I wanted to do that before but didn't even know what to search for.

And no I'm not in the service so I'll not deploy with him.

If you're not command sponsored and not deploying with him, you won't qualify for 319(b) filing as it clearly says you have to joing your USC spouse within 45 days of naturalization. if this is not happening, no naturalization.

Since you are a spouse of active duty you may file under Military dependents and family which you have to mail your application to Nebraska Service Center instead of Arizona. You don't have to be in the service to qualify for 319(b). As long as your husband is in the military and has orders to deploy overseas anytime soon and you are going with him then you are qualify to apply under 319(b) or you can wait until you guys deploy and do the process over there.

Very common for servicemen to bring their wife and even kids along, my brother recently retired from the Army and took his wife and my three nieces all over the world, he is a medical doctor, but that doesn't make any difference, can be supply sergeant as well. Nieces are finally getting settled in the gold old USA, a foreign country to them.

Where the restrictions rely, say in the Navy aboard a ship or a submarine, won't let you bring the wife or kids along, or in an active war zone. So a lot depends upon where your husband will be stationed, we have fixed bases all over the world

.

Department of State likes to call it dual nationality, might as well call it dual citizenship, because that is exactly what it is if your country insist on you maintaining your citizenship because your place of birth is on your US passport if you want to visit your mom.
