Should NOA1 take this long?

Hi there,

New here, so a brief history before I pose my question.

I am the Uk wife of a US husband, we have been married for 4 years and up until this year we have been living in the Uk.

It had always been our intention to relocate to the US eventually.

My husband left a few months ago to set up shop over there, and 3 weeks ago he sent off our I-130 application.

We recieved a reciept to say that the letter had arrived at the Texas office 4 days after the application was sent.

However it has now been 3 weeks since we submitted the application and we still have not recieved the NOA1.

I see fom other peoples timelines that this usually arrives within 2 weeks.

I appreciate that it is early days yet in the grand scheme of things and that the whole process will involve a great deal of patience but I wonder is it possible something has gone wrong ? we followed the guielines here and on the offical US immigration site regarding submission of forms.

Any thoughts, advice would be very much appreciated.

Thankyou

Sarah and Brian.

Sarah and Brian,

Mine only took two weeks, sent 29th of July, but it seems there isn't always any rhyme or reason (as you can see from Dylan's Wife's own time line). Doesn't seem very fair that they seem to be working out of order, and it definitely bears asking if it's normal, but I wouldn't worry too much just yet.

I'm glad I got mine so fast, but then I look at the other members who sent their stuff to TSC before me and it does make me kinda mad. Our situations could very easily have been reversed.

It's been about 6 weeks for me and my spouse and we still do not have a NOA yet either or anything for that matter. Just a verbal confirmation that they did receive the application. Our paper work got sent to California, another person reported a lag there too. I'm not sure about Vermont though.

Dylan's Wife,

Is there any way of knowing (or even guessing) why yours got sent to California? Didn't Vermont just send a bunch of stuff to CSC and TSC? Jeepers. I'd almost rather my stuff stay put and take a little longer than have it shipped all over creation (which probably takes just as long in the end), risking who knows what. I hope you get your notice soon........and Sarah and Brian, too.

I remember feeling exactly the same way!

It took 2 weeks for us to get the NOA1 and at that time this seemed like an eternity.

Now I am in a different waiting place, that of the NOA 2 for the I-129f, and I feel the same way I did back then. so the moral of this story is that at every stage of this process, it is going to seem like a long wait for the next step because we are waiting for the person that we love the most in the world.

In fact you reminded me that I felt like this before and my anxiousness now is nothing new, so for both of us HANG IN THERE! The approvals are coming!

Best wishes for you quick approval and being together once and for all in the US
