Hi,

I just sent my k-1 packet to TX a few days ago. I am from Maryland and i am filing for my fiance, who is from Zambia, Africa.

I was looking on the the timeline for the K-1 visa processing flowchart, and was wondering if anyone knew the average time it takes between the 1st NOA (envelope is opened) and 2nd NOA (approval). The timeline has a link to go to, but it seems processing times can vary. Does anyone know an average processing time between that first and 2nd NOA?

Thanks so much!

Kristen

unfortunately it can vary. Mine took 100 days from NOA1 to NOA2 it can be as quick as 2 months but as much as 5-6 months. Unfortunately there is no real way yo tell what yours will be, just keep an eye on other peoples timelines and that will give you a rough idea but it fluctuates drastically.

Sorry I have no better answer for you

Also, the USCIS website gives 5 months as the estimated time. If you find your petition takes longer than the five months, that's the time to call them and try to see what's taking so long. Calling before the 5 month date won't get you anywhere. :)

A good place to frequent after you send in the package is the Case Filing & Progress Reports forum: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/128-k-1-fiancee-visa-case-filing-and-progress-reports/

You can join or start a thread for September VSC (Vermont Service Centre) and that way you can be in contact with people with similar file dates. Also, make sure you keep an eye on Igor's List: http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/monthly_filers.php?visa=1&form=1&scenter=2&option=2&sortby=2 to view the recently approved petitions. It'll give you a good idea when it'll be your turn!

Good luck and congrats.

There are many variables that influence, for example if you get a RFE this will make to get the NOA2 take longer.

We can all make a difference. Please recycle

klocks,

I can see that you've already started filling out your timeline, which is awesome. Once you get your NOA1 and you enter it onto your timeline, it'll spit out a projected adjudication date based on the information entered by other VJ members into their timelines. These dates are by no means 100% reliable and they change all the time based on who is updating but they're still fun to look at.

You can check out more information about processing times under the "Immigration Timelines" section (located on the dark blue bar at the top of any VJ page, or click this link http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/ ). Check out Igors list ( http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/monthly_filers.php?cfl= ) to see who has been approved recently and who is still waiting. You can choose VSC or CSC from the drop down menu to compare. On the right hand of the page as well it will estimate which dates VSC and CSC are currently processing.

None of these things are 100% reliable of course, some people get their NOA2's SUPER fast, for others, it takes many months. Only time will tell. Welcome to the waiting stage, and good luck! :star:
