My wife finally got an interview date at Islamabad Embassy in October. I searched through the forum and found that some people were taking copies of forms submitted to USCIS and NVC, such as DS-230. Is this really necessary? I'm thinking of having my wife take only the most essential items, such as: photos, telephone call records, financial support, passport sized photos, copy of marriage certificate, and copy of birth certificate. Anyone who has been to Islamabad Embassy for an interview please share your experience and what you did to prepare for it and what items you took to the interview. One last question, how easy is it to change interview date?

My wife finally got an interview date at Islamabad Embassy in October. I searched through the forum and found that some people were taking copies of forms submitted to USCIS and NVC, such as DS-230. Is this really necessary? It is optional, but is a good idea. NVC has the history to lose the documents.

I would say anything you sent to USCIS and NVC. You should have a copy of those, just send them to your wife. I am in the same boat so I can't be of much help. I do have a question though? Do you need to prepare a new affidavit of support for the interview?

Do you need to prepare a new affidavit of support for the interview?

No. If you had prepared at NVC stage, it is not needed at Consulate interview. NVC will forward all visa related documents to the Consulate.

If you have the time and the money, you should send copies of everything to your spouse who's going to be interviewing. If embassy needs it, it's right there. You don't have to make another appointment. The chances are that they are not going to need these stuff. Better safe than sorry as momma always says before making sure there's no nuts or bolts in the IHOP pancakes.

I am also from Afghanistan, and my fiancee had her interview in Islamabad. Please have all the copies even though she may not need them. Also, have some pictures from the ceremony. The consuls have more respects for the Afghan women since all the men go for AP for sure. So, they will get easy interviews including the same day visa. I hope the same thing happen to you too.

Good luck!!
