Can someone please tell me how to read the receipt number from the back of the check. There are a lot of numbers. Could someone please clarify? thank you for your help.

Where did you file? also, the rcpt numbers MAY or MAY not be on the back of the check...Many are not, mine as an example.

Vermont is VSC California is WAC followed by the fiscal year (10) then the computer work day then 0 for a paper app then random numbers identifying your case i.e.

WAC1027506769 if you see something like this its your case number, if you don't then its not there.

If you filed in Texas they do not stamp the back of the check with the WAC or EAC number anymore. You will have to wait for your NOA1. It would help if you clarified in your profile or timeline what your filed for and where you filed. Please update your timeline.

Vermont is EAC....sorry...brain lock on my part. And I believe JenanineL is correct if you mailed to Lewisville the number is non grata. BUT I did read through some threads some people said it was....ymmv. Anyway the rcpt is

the letter Service Center Code Fiscal year computer work day (yes it could be greater then 365) 0 for a paper app, 1 for an online app then a 4 digit number unique to your petition.

I am talking about n400 application that was filed at the Dallas Lockbox. There are a lot of numbers on the back of the check but is any one of them the receipt notice? thanks for any input....

In that case I believe it should start with NBC for National Benefits Center. It should follow the same format stated above after NBC...

The letters NBC are not on the back of the check. I do not think there are any three consecutive letters.

I'm Guessing the receipt number is not on the back then, but will defer to those that have filed an N400.

Our check doesn't have any meaningful numbers on the back of it, either. I think you'll have to wait till your NOA. Didn't you send a G-1145 (E-Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance) with your application, as it says here in the Guides? We did that and they sent a text message with the receipt date as soon as they got it!

Mom filed at Phoenix, AZ lockbox, NBC processed her application. The cancelled check for mom's naturalization application did not have her case/application# at the back. There's some random numbers but I think that's EFT transmission numbers for JP Morgan Chase USCIS acct in AZ. Yours maybe different, or it may not even indicate your case# at the back of the cancelled check. You should have submitted G-1145, now just wait for the NOA letter in the mail soon.

Thanks, Jay2 but what is the relationship between G-1145 and receipt/case number?

The form is used to notify applicants that the application has been accepted, the e-notice will also indicate your case/app number. Cashing the check does not mean otherwise. If G-1145 was sent along with your N400, you should have gotten a notice that your app was received and accepted and provided your case number while you wait for the NOA in the mail.

Below is a sample copy of the e-notice:

Dear Applicant/Petitioner:

Your USCIS application/petition has been received and routed to the National Benefits Center for processing. Within 7-10 days by standard mail you will receive your official Receipt Notice (Form I-797) with your Receipt Number NBC*xxxxxxxxx. With the official Receipt Notice (Form I-797) you may visit www.uscis.gov where you can check the status of your application using My Case Status. We suggest you wait until you have received your Form I-797 before checking My Case Status.

This confirmation provides notification of the date USCIS received your application/petition. This notice does NOT grant any immigration status or benefit. You MAY NOT present this notice as evidence that you have been granted any immigration status or benefit. Further, this notice does NOT constitute evidence that your application remains pending with USCIS. The current status of your application/petition must be verified with USCIS.

PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO THIS MESSAGE
