Timeframe of Visa Pickup

I was just wondering how long it has been taking from the day the pink slip is given until Visa pick up date? We are going to have a very tight timeframe for travel plans due to a family wedding in VN that is 2 weeks prior to interview and limit of time off work, and also flying back to Hanoi. If the interview is on a Wednesday is it possible to pick up the Visa before the end of that week assuming all goes well, due to these circumstances?

Also how long does it usually take for the Consulate to respond to emails lately? I haven't emailed them in a while, so I am not sure what the timeframe is now days.

Usually 1 week later.. sometimes abit longer.. but count on the following wed or thur

There was a time when you could request it sooner but I think those days may be gone.

I think its a standard one week now. They will tell you the day to return. They have to assemble the "package" that you take and give to CBP.

Don't make any travel plans until the visa is in hand. I cannot emphasize that enough. Even atfer pinks are given there is still the opportunity for something to screw things up and cause delays. Take it from one who bought tickets after the pink and ended up canceling them and paying upwards of $1,000 to change and rebook tickets.

We experienced a minor technicality but it delayed the receipt of the visa for almost three weeks to get it straightened out (and no fault of ours)!

MyI wife received her visa 10 days after the pink slip.

When we went to picked up the visa, more half the people inlne was told to come back.

They too was scheduled to have their visa picked up that day.

One week. But like mentioned above, many people did not get their visas when they came back to pick it up.
