you need to change all of your identification to your married name (everything),your i.d's and even your passport..My husband & I got married last February of 2010,the next day,i changed my identifications to my married name...that'll be easier for him to get you because you will be his beneficiary and he can just file a CR-1 visa for you instead of k3 visa. And plus, why hire an agency?headbonk.gif As far as i know,as long as your doing the right instructions on how to do this, you will be good to go...and its just expensive and they're not even doing anything,of course all the work here will be yours and your husband....Trust me,as long as you follow the instructions, you wont have any problem.Me and my husband haven't filed my visa yet but we're about to before the end of the month. We are not gonna get an agency to do this, waste of money. But from the advises of our fellow VJ members,we already know the step-by-step guide to do this.

You do not need to use your husband's name unless you wish to. There is no requirement that a wife must take her husband's name for the filing of the CR1. It is your choice and either your maiden name or married name is acceptable. Keep in mind, however, that your visa will be issued in the name on your passport.

This is the 21st century, LOTS of women chose not to change their last name. It will not hinder or progress your case.

However, if you do intend to change your name, do so before the interview. the visa will be issued in the name on the passport and the green card on the name in the visa. Don't add extra headache once you come to the US trying to change everything then

good luck

My wife wanted to change her last name to mine, but I told her not to do it. It is all extra head ache, modifying all the documents.

But I promised her if she wishes, she can do it as part of her Naturalization here. No head ache and no cost :star:
