My fiancee just passed her medical. While in the medical center she realized KEV # is missing on her application. When she went back to register office, they told me not to worry about. By they way, they never asked for KEV number during the process. Is this really normal? Will American consulate give her hard time if KEV number is missing? She mentioned that she saw KEV numbers on other applicant's applications.

For the medical records...don't worry. They didn't ask for Sergey's KEV number either. She has the documents to bring and that is all. Provided it has her NAME on it, you are fine. I am not sure what you mean by "application" though. You mean medical exam report?

Did she get the DS-3025 signed off on and did they check the "vaccinations complete" box on the form? This is not an interview issue, this will be an AOS issue. Do not panick, but it makes things easier later if they have done this form properly

Hi Gary, yes I meant medical exam report. It's just strange, why would they ask to bring KEV number if they don't write it anywhere. Do you think we could just write it on the top of the sealed envelope?

Rubella was the only shot she was missing, but the doctor said she will do it in US. Not sure why they didn't give her the shot right there.

I wish I would be there with her to make sure DS-3025 has been done properly. She could not find the "vaccinations complete" check box on the copy. Sveta told me they were given copies of DS-325 to everyone. No one had to ask for it. Let's hope everything was done properly and there will be no AOS issues.

That's cool that they were giving out the DS-3025s. That will help out on down the road.

If she needs a rubella shopt, then her vaccinations are not complete. Moot point.

She will have to get the rubella shot here and then go to a civil surgeon to have them fill out the I-693 form. In most cases this is nothing but an outright scam. Call around to your local civil surgeons now (google "civil surgeons _______" (name of state)

Call them and ask what they will charge to do this. Some will not even look at the form without charging for another (unneeded) medical exam. They are as much parasites as immigration attorneys. You can get the shot anywhere, but call the CS first. Some will include the shot for the exorbitant fee they will charge you anyway.

This will be done before you file for the AOS, so call around now, even make an appointment for after she will arrive.

The medical cliniccommonly makes mistakes, but she has a medical exam with her name on it, she is good to go for the interview.

So if one shot is missing that's not a big deal when you do AOS?

Yes it absolutely is a big deal. I know of several cases where the AOS was DENIED for lack of one shot and had to be re-opened ($585, form I-290) OR re-filed completely ($1010).

She will NEED to get her rubella shot after she arrives and before you file for AOS. She will then need to go to a civil surgeon with her DS-3025 and get the CS to fill out the vaccination part f the I-693 to be sent with your AOS forms. Civil surgeoins charges for this range from "reasonable" ($35 to $50) to outrageous $400+. Each civil surgeon is an independent doctor authorized by the government to do this for immigrants. There are NO guidelines or limits to what they charge. They generally deal with immigrants that have little knowledge of the rules and speak little English. Many of them are simply scam artists...plain and simple...rip offs.

I have been working with my state's Sneators to try and get a modification in the upcoming immigration reform (it IS upcoming) to allow ANY licensed doctor in the USA to sign off on these forms. Seems if my doctor can give me a prescription for Oxycontin, he ought to be able to sign a form that I have a measles shot.

There will likely be several civil surgeons in your area. Call around and find out what they charge. Be SURE they understand it is an AOS for a K-1 visa and theat she has had a "panel physician" medical exam overseas before visa issuance.

Generally, at least in Kiev, you do not have to ask for it. However, it needs to be filled out correctly. I helped a couple with a recent case where the person HAD all the shots, the shots were checked off and the dates were given. BUT the "vaccinations complete" box was not signed.

The man got an RFE for an additional shot (they did not say which ones) and a CS to sign off on it. He did not know which shot because he made SURE his fiancee had ALL shots before she had her exam. He went to the local USCIS office (info pass) They told him she had all her shots and to respond with a letter saying she had all her shots and with another copy of the DS 3025. They told him everything will be fine. He responded.

4 months later he received a denial notice and an order for her to leave the country within 30 days! I got him in contact with Senator Leahy. Say what you will about Leahy's politics but the guy is a powerful Senator and he damn sure takes care of his constituents. He will get my vote, that's for sure.

In the meantime the guy paid his $585 to re-open the case (you cannot let the 30 day opportunity for that to pass) The Senator got hold of USCIS in California and at first they refused to reconsider the case. His office contacted the Washington office of USCIS and they changed their tune. The green card was approved but USCIS made a point to state it "was not their fault" because "the doctor made an error" by not checking the "vaccinations complete" box. Apparently adjudicators are unable to READ a DS-3025 with te dates of the needed vaccinations. They NEED the "little box" checked off. At any rate, this nightmare cost this couple an extra $585 and took MORE THAN A YEAR from filing to green card. I half expected them to demand a new medical exam or new I-864. Of course his wife could not get a job and her previoulsy issued AP was CANCELLED when they denied her I-485. It was a year long headache because some stupid clerk couldn't read a form and there is NO WAY for you to reason with a HUMAN BEING at USCIS without going through a Senator or Representative. In fact, as the Senators office related, the ONLY thing that saved his bacon, so to speak, was the fact that the local USCIS confirmed she had all her shots and that they had advised the man to repsond to the RFE with a letter explaining this. The local office had said they would request his case be sent to them for an interview...didn't happen. The local office confirmed all this to the Senator and he made a major issue of a local office promising this. There really was no "reason" involved. No one at USCIS said "Oh yeah, sorry, we made a mistake" they were basically FORCED to concede "the doctor in Kiev made an error". Keep this in mind in case youre AOS gets transferred to CSC and you think it is a good thing.

At any rate, local CS's were contacted during this process and fees for this ran $85-400, for the same thing! NONE in this area would sign off on the form without another medical exam...period. Nothing doing. There were 4 CS's in this area that were "accepting patients" and within 1 hour drive. There were 4 others that were "not accepting new patients" ( ????) The fees for the medical exam are what I have quoted. Fees for the shots (remember, he did not even know which ones he would need, and the CS's would not look at the DS 3025 unless he paid their fee) were anywhere from FREE to $80 EACH. The SHOTS can be obtained at your local doctor, of course. You DO NOT have to pay a CS for the vaccines.

Just get all your ducks in a row and be prepared so you do not have unneeded delays when she arrives.

So here is what I need to do as soon she arrives here.

1. get her rubella shot at the local doctor.

2. Find a CS in my area.

The question is. If DS 3025 form does not have "vaccinations complete" checked, obviously it will not, since she is missing one shot, what do we do?

The local doctor will probably give us another document that stating that she now has her rubella shot, but DS-3025 still be incomplete.

How do we make sure all is in order before we submit for AOS?

I would contact a local CS NOW and scout around a bit. Shop for pricing, appointment lead times, etc. Of the 4 near here, their availability ranged from "walk in anytime" to 3-4 weeks wait for an appointment, so check it out now. You can get the vaccination anywhere, bring the record of the vaccination to the CS, OR have the CS give her the vaccination...whichever is cheaper and better for you.

Her DS-3025 is useless for AOS purposes. It is not complete and will be replaced with the I-693 that the CS completes. Bring the DS-3025 with you to the CS and he will review that, mark off the vaccines she has and add the ones she has received after arring here. The CS here will complete the I-693 and you will send that with your I-485.

You can make these appointments for ANY time after she arrives, you do not have to wait to be married or anything like that.

Please do not confuse or misunderstand what happened to this other couple. She HAD all her vaccines. The RFE told them to go to a CS and do exactly what you will be doing...get a "missing vaccine" and get the CS to sign the I-693. But when the guy figured out this little error was going to cost him $400 he responded with "She has all her vaccines, read the DS-3025" Didn't work. He was ordered to do "A" and he did "B" and she was denied...flat, that is it. You DO what you are told or you get denied. Period. Or so seems to be the message.

In your case, she does not have all the vaccines, so just do what you are going to have to do anyway and avoid the RFE. Saves time that way, PLUS allows you to shop around first and get it done for the lowest cost.

So if one shot is missing that's not a big deal when you do AOS?

It's not a big deal at all.

If she's missing a shot, go to any local doctor and get the shot she needs. We went to the "ghetto clinic" and got the shot for like $20 or something. No sweat. Then we had the CS (that we found by simply googling "CS Cincinnati") fill out the paperwork and sent that in. Easy peezy, lemon squeezy.

I guess I did not mean it is a "big deal" to get this done. It isn't. It is going to be a "thing" and that is about it. How much of a "thing" (meaning $$$) depends on the CS you find.

It IS a big deal in terms of the AOS procedure. You will have to do it and they will deny you if you don't.
